my contention for years has been that if Tiger brought his range warmup swing onto the course he would almost never lose, now his bum right leg is forcing him to do that.  Always been silky smooth and controlled on the range, then he'd go out on the course in competition and get a bit quick and aggressive leading to some of the wild shots that force dropped shots.

Whoa there, lol.  His bum leg and foot and everything else are why he'll lucky to do what it takes outside the ropes just to be able to play, let alone compete, inside the ropes ever again.  I'm rooting for him but he's not beating most of any weekly field in any real tournament with his range warmup swing - maybe the father/son next year if Charlie continues to improve!

Hank Haney, on the Subpar podcast I believe, said that Tiger was actually the worst he's seen of being able to take his range game to the course, because his game on the range was that good. 

 

So armchairing maybe, but you're pretty close, maybe you'd get a popsicle I guess.

His on-course tempo after back surgery might be the best improvement between eras. His M.O. has always been too prep for majors, and yet he's considering just waltzing in without any tournaments  in almost 1 1/2 years and teeing up. He's got to be feeling it.

yeah he's a machine on the range, smooth controlled tempo and can paint whatever shot he wants on command.  The bum right side is forcing him to maintain that really smooth even-keeled backswing/transition now.  If he can walk 4 rounds I think he'll surprise a lot of people with how good he plays

His swing post back surgery has for the most part been "smooth, even-keeled". Has nothing to do with right ankle.

Glad to see Tiger thinking of playing the Masters.  One things for certain that if he thinks his body  is good for Augusta, St. Andrews and the Open championship is going to be a no brainer.  That course is a cake walk compared to the hills at Augusta.

I honestly don’t think too many were doubting his return. More of a when than if. I think what’s interesting about AS is, he went through all that grueling rehab and came back for a season, then retired. Almost like he just wanted to prove he could do it. Most likely a big part of what got him through it all.
