What's crazy is that he's won three times this year and yet I don't think he's gotten that much attention from golf writers or analysts.  But I guess it's hard to stand out when Scheffler won five times, including one major.

 

I also saw on Facebook that Harold Varner III stayed after the round to sign autographs for any fan that wanted them, which I think says a lot about his character.  Hopefully he uses this as a learning experience and it makes him a stronger player going forward.

Maybe he needs to bring back the handlebar moustache.  I think that is a good look for him.  That could his thing just like the mullet is Cam Smith's thing.

Varner had to be rattled by the interminable futzing around with Stalling's drop.  That following a bad shot into a bunker and a bad shot out of the bunker.

I woke up early and basically watched the whole final round.

 

Great round by Burns. Great putt. He's knocking on the door.

 

SS did well to keep it together and get in a playoff.

 

That stretch by Varner... Didn't he choke in a PGA badly too? I don't know how many lessons he's looking for. And, I really like his game. So, it's hard to watch.

 

No one thought Brendan Todd had a chance. But, he is going to cash a giant a** pay check. No one will remember his performance. And, he'll do it a couple more times this year. Good for him.

Yesterday was a train wreck.  I could notch it up to the conditions, but sometimes bad golf is just bad golf.  And we've seen a lot of it this year from almost everyone near the top of the leaderboard on the weekend.  It's almost as if no one believes grinding out pars is good enough on Sunday under tough windy conditions.

I was gonna say Stenson with a little more pop off the tee/better putter. I think Burn's has a higher ceiling though (not discrediting Stenson in any way; winning a major, WGC, Players is big time). I think he's gonna win a major soon, maybe one of the last 2 this year

I've never been as sick of listening to Jim Nantz (& Ian BF) in my life....wore the mute button out.  On the back nine when it was obvious the leaders weren't interested in actually winning, I started rooting for HaroldVIII because he seemed to be on a streak there for a while.  Then......he cratered & totally fell apart.  So...congrats to Sam Burns, what a putt on 18 !
