Sergio to...Ping?

We know Sergio have bad temper on the course sometimes, but he is not a bad dude. Met him many times and he always have time and try to please fans. One time at the Augusta masters, i saw one of the big name snub a kid for autograph because he just finish and have a bad round. He was playing with Sergio, and also have a bad round but he stop and approach the kid and sign the kid Flag.

Good luck to him this week, I am sure his got more golf in him and I don't think his worry about another clubs contract. Callaway clubs did not really work for him, kind a like what Rose when he sign with Honma :).

At this point Sergio has not signed with Ping. He is still testing out gear.

Just saw an interview after his round today, he cleared things up by saying it was Callaway saying he had to play the Chrome Soft, that he does not like, that led to their parting of ways, nothing more......

Whilst a few of you guys don't seem to like him, outside of the US bubble he is massively popular because he plays all round the world.

I think we can all agree he is a great player. Majors dont need to be won to show you can be a great player there are other factors. Some guys cant even keep their tour card while hes allways a threat to win if things go right. Hes still a real butthead on the course sometimes though and thats a just crazy to me. I recall him being not too happy about the ball a year after his masters win return. He said it just reacted different then hes use to. If you need to see the ball do a certain thing then i guess do what gets you wins.

There’s a reason pros don’t always upgrade to the latest ball. I know Stacey Lewis switched to Bridgestone several years back because titleist told her they were stopping the production of the 2009 prov that she was playing. She didn’t like the other balls and moved on

I am surprised Callaway would do that. There are players who play a Titleist ball, for example, but don't play Titleist clubs.

It’s about the contract they sign. Titleist doest ball/hat/glove type deals or ball/FJ shoes and gloves.

You would think an OEM would be a bit more flexible in that regard, knowing how important the ball is for a professional.

Well they are to an extent but they have to be able to move on at some point and also try to get their staff in the latest ball if possible. Iirc it was 2015 when they stopped making the 2009 ball
