Now since it's on Bryson, it's ok. Personally, they should let Erik van Rooyen go after them.

We don’t really know what the fans were yelling in addition to the Brooksie stuff do we? 
 But if this is what we get with fans back I’d prefer to go back to no fans.   Golf does not need this WWE type behavior and we have Koepka egging them on with his social media crap.

This is one of the MANY reasons I love golf.  

 

Lots of people clutch their pearls when someone from the crowd shouts something at a golf tournament. 

 

In darn near EVERY other sport, the fans yell and scream whatever they like.  This is considered acceptable.  I have seen fans at MLB and NFL (especially NHL)  games hurl horrible racist, homophobic, sexist, and xenophobic insults at players.   No one blinks.  Beers are passed around.  Life moves on.  Flowers bloom, the cat gets fixed, and the pot-hole on your street doesn't get fixed.

 

The only other sport that I can think of that somewhat follows the PGA model is Pro Tennis. 

 

I find the whole double-standard so funny and strange.  I don't think it is right or wrong, just strange.  This would be a great sociology thesis question.

This is interesting because half of WRX wants all spectators to be removed from tournaments and in fact have anyone who considers attending a professional golf tournament shot…

 

…and the other half here bemoan fans being kicked out and have likely already retained Gloria Allred for these individuals to sue the tour, the course, all police departments within a 180-mile radius, and God himself.

Its not that people love the fans now, its that bryson is being a petty baby and targeting people for removal, then lying about it, then acting like he doesn't care. On top of that he's putting up this front of being the bigger man.

This is spiralling out of control; the "baba booey" jerks have been allowed for too long, now it's escalated to personal insults and there was even physical contact between fans and players on the 72nd at the PGA. It could get ugly, fast.

Time for the tour to step in with a code of conduct for spectators and players.

 

Etiquette is a big part of golf, at both professional and amateur levels. On a golf course you are trusted to behave a certain way, whether you are playing or watching.

Having them ejected is about the only choice Bryson had, let's visit the two alternatives:

 

1) Attack them.  Then he gets arrested, sued, suspended, etc...

 

2) Ignore them.  Golf is mainly a game between your ears at that level so listening to that over the course of a round can't be good on your score.

 

Should he had lied about having them ejected?  No, but it was still the best option to handle the situation.

Not here to defend Bryson, but this has happened before. I think it was in the Accenture matchplay semi finals around 2000. Tiger was playing DL III. Davis missed a putt or something and a fan yelled "no love here!" Hardly the most offensive heckle but Davis reacted had the person ejected.

 

People yell this stuff to provoke a response and shouldn't be surprised if they get one. Even if that involves being thrown out.

The Tour is a joke. They have lost all control of the useless garbage that walks behind the ropes. 

Love the game but hate the tour. Sick of hearing about tradition and all the other garbage the tour 

constantly chirps about. They are doing everything they can to destroy it. The Woods era ushered  in the crop of useless garbage behind the ropes. It's not his fault. it is the Tours fault.

I don't disagree with them being thrown out. While they're at it, take the baba booeys, mashed potatoes, and the "get in the hole" off the tee on par 4's and 5's while they're at it. I just think this is rich coming from the guy that is "living rent free in Brooks' head" as he put it.

The really interesting thing here is the apparent presence of Anheuser Busch and Michelob Ultra as a part of the entire thing. Whether what Brooks said about the company being willing to reward those involved with free beer needs to be confirmed, but if it is true it opens up a real Pandora's box of issues. Imagine Nike rewarding people for heckling Skechers player Matt Kuchar for his choice of shoes, or PXG rewarding those who heckle Titleist staff players. The possibilities are endless.
