The C4 has been mentioned, but that was an awful driver. Sound was bad, performance wasn't good. If TM makes the first great carbon face driver and the performance is as good as people are claiming, I'd say it's probably groundbreaking. We'll know in a few years if other OEMs have followed suit and are also building their faces with carbon.

 

Agreed, c4 didn’t perform and sounded bad. That said, the original epic had a ton of composite and sounded like FT3 with that dead “thwack” that naturally comes with composite dampening impact noise that people claimed sounded dead (read all over this forum when it came out). With a composite face and crown, I’d expect a similar “thwack” or more so from head construction. Purely conjecture at this point but taylormade is doing its job by getting everyone to speculate lol

Ha thats my only issue with taylormades last two releases. Slap a polarizing color on the standard model and charge extra to take it off…

that’s close enough to a plain crown for me. I’m sure I’ll have to buy this sight unseen, as these will probably be sold out for awhile after the inevitable ad campaign showing the TM staff hitting some bombs, ending with a shadowy silhouette of newly-healthy Tiger smoking one down the fairway with the red face visible against a dark background as he swings.

 

im sure this will look good on a ventus black. For those worried about durability, I imagine it will be warrantied through this year, and you’re all gonna buy a new driver in 2023 anyway after all the other OMs start matching this tech 🤣🤣🤣
