I understand we lost 2018 pretty badly. But outside of the Friday afternoon foursomes, the score was 6-6 in the rest of the team sessions. I never understood why Furyk sent out Mickelson on Friday afternoon instead of Finau in foursomes.  Phil shouldn't have even been picked. Xander was t2 at the Players/The Open

Just talked to a friend I do business with in Milwaukee (who's going to the RC). He said there has been real wind there the last couple days. 20MPH, gusts half again that much. Possibly slightly lower this weekend, but still, this is definitely going to be what everyone predicted (and many hoped for). Wind will be the 25th player. Golfers who do well on the coast of Scotland, or on the Pacific coast in the US are going to do well here. 

 

This is really going to be fun to watch. I love watching the pros adjust their shot shapes, ball flight, and even strategy to account for strong wind. Its one of those scenarios that remind me of just how much better than amateurs they really are when it comes to control over their clubs.

 

Loved those old PGA commercials: "These Guys Are Good". One of the most recognizable taglines in all of sports for about two decades. (Recently replaced by "Live Under Par" which has gone over like a lead balloon.)

 

But the ability to play well in significant wind is one of the reasons why These Guys Are Good (you really only get how tough that is if you play golf and have fought wind).

I was at the practice round yesterday and watched them hit some really cool shots... JT hit a low stinging cut into the wind with a driver... Off the range to waste an entire bucket trying to replicate it
