Used to live in SD so have played them.  You hear a lot of comments, well if it wasn't on a cliff overlooking the ocean, they'd just be....

There's actually a lot of truth to that but, they are on a cliff overlooking an ocean, so..   haha

I wonder how different it plays from tournament conditions. I’m  guessing as a muni it’s huge.

Rickie and Bryson showing class removing their hats after concluding the round and shaking hands.  Spieth leaves his hat on.

The take your cap off, run your hand through your sweaty greasy hair and then shake hands is disgusting. It's a modern affectation. Look it up. 🙄

Knowledge of the Rules is part of the applied skill set which a player must use to play competitive golf.

Rahm should win this thing with the crowd on his side. He really won over SD with his comments after the Open. There's only ONE guy that the Torrey crowd would support over Rahm and he's not playing this week.

Would that be Tiger or Phil?

No. Let's say he's least notable in the list. But he has been playing well for a long time, I was surprised to see him miss the cut.

Current world #13, Sam Burns, is more surprising to have missed the cut than Conners. Burns had a great 2021. Conners not so much.

Things are looking great heading into the weekend - JT vs Rahm should make for interesting viewing. Both seem to have the ability to get loose with the driver although, how Rahm managed to patch it round yesterday driving it so badly was amazing to me.

Two solid rounds from Jason Day, now T6!

Nice to see him playing better. Long long way to go (as Rickie proved with his second round performance) but it was nice to see JDay back up there.

Would love to see that. Rickie is a class act. Have played with him and he is not in the least fake.

I like most of us like Rickie and believe there are a bunch I don't care for (Anyone who destroys greens basically).  With that said I was looking at his stats, overview.

In years past he was exceptional putting, around the green and approach.  Over the years there has been a slow downward progression in all 3 of those categories.   His driving distance has gone down a bit from his earlier days, but his driving accuracy is right on par, except for one magical season.

It's like he hasn't been working on his short stuff.  I mean he's too young to lose his ability to chip and putt right?

Not actively rooting for him (picked JT it's an ego and money thing) but....   I agree would be thrilled to see him land a top 10.    Love his interviews he is reallly good guy.  Love how he adopted Ohio as his own.  Not the best place to live thats for sure but he makes it work with his wife and her family.

Don’t forget the overdue and just exemptions given that will help the game immensely:

Alford (solo 152nd)

Johnson (dead last)

Sidenote- maybe now that some of the poster boys missed the cut  they’ll actually showcase some of the not-so-well known guys playing well.  (I won’t hold my breath)

While I haven't played the either course since the re-do's, I remember that the South course is just a hard, long course, tournament conditions or not, that's right in front of you. Nothing tricked up and no holes that are special, except maybe the par 3 3rd I think, where you're looking the peaks down at Black's.

I played it a lot when I lived in SD and worked at the Scripps Clinic right there. Granted, I was a 15 handicap then, but that course is just difficult. The North is quite different now from when I played it, but for the 15 cap, it was more enjoyable than the South.

Saw a lot of rust on these boys. For many the first legit tourney of the year. Just some very odd looking shots. Spieth has changed his plane a bit. Koepka very surprising, and BD played injured.

I had a guy attempt this in league last year.  I reached down the front of my pants, acted like I scratched my private parts and extended the hand towards him.  He recoiled and I told him to remember this the next time he whipped his hand through his sweaty hair before shaking hands.  I don't drink, but I got a lot of beer offers afterwards.

Full disclosure:  It was preplanned.  I'm not that spontaneous, but that practice was beginning to become common at our club.

Then fist bump, but at least take your hat off.  Act like a gentleman, not some beer belching bum.  I get it he missed the cut and shot horrible, over par.  But don't be such a baby, take the freaking hat off.

His takeaway has changed noticeably. It's very Ryan Palmer-like IMO, that slow move in the backswing and unloading into the ball from the top.

A bag of left-handed junk.
