It was on the golfwrx radio podcast. They also mentioned Kiz was trying out Wilson irons before switching to TCB.

I also looked it up on Getty images.

Well, if the TaylorMade SIM3 was released, it would probably look like this.

I figured the move away from face milling in the LTDx fairways was a cost savings measure. Cobra never really acknowledged why the fairway face design changed. The F9 “S” that was the subject of YouTube ridicule also had a non-milled face. At the same time, Bryson has shown a preference for a non-milled face which can only mean there is some sort of scientifically measured benefit to axing the milled face.

LTDx didn’t beat my RAD XB. Will definitely be demoing the Aerojet as I am a big fan of Cobra fairways and drivers. Really like the look of this so far.

Side note: @JungleJimbo not the first time Woodland has demoed a Cobra driver.  https://www.golfdigest.com/story/two-former-major-winners-and-a-rising-star-make-driver-changes-at-the-waste-management-phoenix-open/amp

It's just so true. I can't remember the last time I played with somebody gaming a Cobra. It's not that they're not good, there's just not much room in the market beyond Titleist, TM, Cally and Ping. You could say the same about Mizuno drivers. They're good...but who cares?

You could say that about Mizuno irons then as well. Good but who cares. There are other companies which much larger market share.

I disagree. You see a fair number of guys go Mizuno when they're free agents. Not so much with Cobra

I’d try it out in a heartbeat but just don’t get along well with Cobra drivers for whatever odd reasons.

same here...except for my LTDx LS...i skipped speedzone and radspeed after not really getting along with the F8 and F9 like i thought i would...wasn't expecting much when a buddy recommended i try the LTDx LS but it has grown on me and works well.  is it the best for me?  idk...going to CC next week and we'll see.

Unfortunately the Stealth kicked my LS out, then the G425 LST win out over the Stealth.

The Cobra LTDx Long Drive head also had no face milling. As I understand it, it was to improve the uniformity of the strength of the face. Guys like Bryson and Berkshire with their ridiculous swing speed plus reps put an incredible amount of strain on those faces. If I remember right, Cobra drivers are durability tested at 130mph swing speed for 400 swings, which is 4mph below Bryson’s average, and probably how many drives Bryson hits in a week. The milling meant some parts of the face (the grooves) were thinner than others and those areas would crack causing face caves quickly for those gentlemen. So a non-milled face distributed force better and the heads lasted much longer.

So knowing Bryson games a 5 degree LTDx with a smooth face, it’s probably not unlikely he plays a Long Drive head at PGA weight and length.

I rather like the milled face. Don’t need impact tape to tell me exactly where that last range ball was struck lol (ours have pretty soft covers).
