Tensei orange ... way too stiff under the handle. I prefer a stiffer butt shaft but that was so off the charts I literally had no idea what the rest of the club was doing during the swing.

After an 8 year hiatus away from golf I decided to treat myself to a new set of Cobra F9 One Length's with Recoil 110 Shafts. Well, I kinda thought going in it wouldn't work well for me and I was right. Many years ago in my younger years I purchased some Callaway Great Big Bertha Irons. They were so easy to hit but I hated looking at them. The same scenario with the Cobra's. They were super nice to hit but I just could not get past the look. Ended up getting some TM 790's (2017) and I really like them.

The only other mistake was getting a Scotty Cameron Putter. Center shafted Newport model, looked awesome. I have never putted so bad with anything ever...lol. At least it was easy to sell for a minimal loss.

AMT Black S300 into Cally CF16 for me, 4 - AW.

wanted to bring ballflight down, had XP95 R300 went online and "researched" shafts i may like, narrowed it down to Project X 6.0, AMT Black S300 & Dynamic Gold 105 S300.

went to local shop asked to try the 3 shafts (even bought a demo CF16 7 iron head online) could use PX in the CF16 but the other 2 shafts, AMT was a AP3 & the DG was a TM P790 (i think).

couldnt hit PX to save myself (still cant) was hitting AMT pretty nice, loved the DG 105, but thought it was a case of range hoodoo magic and once on the course they would be a disaster.

choose AMT Black and take clubs in for the swap over, get them on course & S300 shows up all the flaws in my swing, hook city.

not gonna lie, i think i cried myself to sleep that night thinking i had ruined a good set of clubs!!! LOL.

saw a single digit capper down at local course told him my dilemma and asked for a few pointers, swing tips, grip tips, stance tips etc, well wouldnt you know it after that AMT Black does go straight and long.... LOL

I was expecting more posts like this. Sometimes a fun hobby can get expensive ... but not always getting it perfect is what makes it fun. You probably nailed it on the next set, and they feel even better because of the prior miss.

Trimmed the shaft on my Ping Max driver before I even hit it, big mistake. I later extended it and got it back where it should be.

I know someone on here had to have spent insane money on the bike proto back in day. Dymo 380 or split cavity irons were well over a grand at some point. Maybe even pushing two for the irons. Now. Not so much

I had the opposite. I did my fitting and the final product was as good as the fitting session and better as I got more used to it.

My big mistake was hitting Mzunos latest offerings... NOW trying to figure out how to get them LOL

I'm looking to do this, but I bought an extra shaft to do it with. One of the alta counterbalanced shafts, 1 flex stiffer than I play. will but trim it 1" and then put in a heavier head weight to compensate for the loss of swing weight and bring the flex back to what I play... If it doesn't work, i'll just put the stock shaft and weight back in. Will only have cost me about £40 in materials.

Prior to moving home, I decided to buy a launch monitor, mat and one of those open tents to hit into with the intension of setting it up in the garage... Got over ruled on choice of home by the partner and now have a town house with no garage so no where to set this kit up. On to ebay it goes...

I'll have to wait and see the final verdict, but as of last month I spent $2,400 on Mp20's built through Club Champion. With range time so far they feel great. My philosophy was to do the custom fit and hopefully play these for 5 years to justify the build

 

up to now tho, an Accra tz6 driver shaft was my worth investment. Feels great yes, but not suited for my swing at all!

Sort of similar experience. I bought a Newport 2 (studio stainless I think?). I didn't necessarily hate it, but my putting has always been far better with a mallet putter. Ended up struggling for 6 years at various times just trying to make it work due to how much I paid for the thing. This summer I picked up a Red X-3 at a pawn shop for 60 bucks and things have turned around almost immediately! It has some dings but performs just fine.

Miura IC-601 irons, purchased sight unseen and was shocked by the overall size and offset. Had a couple of decent rounds but more bad than good, went to the CB-301 and they play much, much better but still large for my eye.

 

Waiting for the TC-201 to come out and see how they demo, not good enough for true blades (not enough SS) but that is what my eyes prefer...
