2020 Round Counts

cardoustie

Recommended Posts

2020 is not over but so far I am setting a record - 112 rounds and counting for the 2020 calendar year.  73 rounds in 2019 but this was 25 or so lower than normal based on my atrociously bad back last summer

Normal year, I’d be plus 20 percent.  30 of these rounds were in Florida in Jan & Feb fwiw

My group of courses here in Canada has play up 30 percent this year vs. last year .. incredible.  The folks I know in the equipment biz are also doing very well.

Is it the same generally across WrxLand ... are your round counts way up??  If not, are they at your course ?

I played ~60 so far.  About my average since I made the mistake of having a child.

Before that I was ~75 or so.

Adding to the Canadian's checking in.

I am right at 100. Definitely high for me and we started two weeks late.

I'm normally around 75 -80.

this year I'm at 66 rounds tracked, and quite a few that weren't tracked. I'd say I'm at least at 75. Granted I've only played 1 18 hole round this year. Big difference was getting the membership at the course I'm at, that and corona allowing my dad to have a lot of time off so we were going to the course almost every day. I'd say rounds are up at our home course but I'm unsure by how much. I never really had a problem getting on, but they were very nice to me, oftentimes fitting me in. The course I played 18 at this year, the starter was saying he was expecting to get close to 45000 rounds. Of course weather has taken a turn, we got 10 inches of snow a couple days ago and the weather is about 20° below normal.

I've played < 20 rounds this year, much less than normal (average ~80 rounds).  I had a torn calf muscle after I took up running when COVID broke out, and then a chronic shoulder injury that I'm still recovering from.

OTOH my kids have played over 600 rounds this year between the 3 of them; basically golf everyday, since a lot of the other sports and activities they participate in have been cancelled or significantly reduced

29 rounds this year (combination of 18 and 9 holes), so how many times I went out. I live in Trondheim, Norway, and my first round was 25th of April, and the last round played was the 17th of October. There was a 3 week period in July where I didn't play at all due to summer vacation with the family.

This was the most I've ever played in a season since I started playing here in Norway (2012 when I played 5 rounds) after my kids got old enough that I could take off for a round. I will admit, there was a lot of home-office on the golf course this year 😇.

I couldn't be happier with this - given all my other hobbies and family commitments, this is just about enough for me. In the off season, I'll probably go to the indoor simulators about 15-20 evenings from now until the season starts again.

I played my 151st round of the year this past Tuesday. I should be able to hit the 200 round mark by the end of December. 'Definitely digging retirement.

103 rounds this year, versus 96 last year. That number counts 9-holes rounds as 1 round, and any rounds that I couldn't post for handicap (scrambles, shambles, practice rounds, etc).

If weather cooperates I am gonna play once more this Saturday, and then probably put the clubs in the basement.

You guys are my hero.  At 33 here in PA.  What your secret to getting so much golf time in.  Do you work, are you retired, is there a secret occupation that I missed on?  Having a steady 9 to 5 seriously gets in the way of my golf game....Lol.

I am almost 53, two girls are 22 and 20 in years 5 and 3 in university

Half retired with 2.5 months in Florida

Looked back at my rounds when my girls were young .. closer to 30-40 rounds a year

I have no idea what my count is but with the exception of March and April when course were shut down, it has to be the highest ever personally.

Golf is up all over as I understand it. People realize it's something you can do and social distance since most indoor activities are either shut down or very restrictive.

Currently at 76 with more to come.  Working full time but now at home so there has been some flexibility with time as well as us not being slammed right now.  Kids are 17 and 14 and don't need/want me around as much as before.  Working at home allows little house projects to be done throughout the day freeing up some weekend time.  Wife not thrilled but also if she and my daughter are going to go out and shop all sunday afternoon, and my honeydo's are complete, why not head out?

Now if we can just clear up the tee sheet a bit....

2. Literally two. Sprinkle in about 8 or 9 trips to the range when I get a wild hair and a few spare moments.

We have a 3 year old and I have a wife who is a very successful hair stylist: she works most evenings and Saturday is the big money day. I will get a lot of heat thrown at me by the missus for not having Family Time Sunday mornings (I generally make everyone breakfast and we go the park/hang out with friends/etc). So the golf math vs. available time isn't hard to do. I'm also not one of those dads that will throw his kid to the grandparents to sneak off, I understand these are my daughter's formative years and don't want to miss them. Golf can wait another year or so.

Disappointingly low this season, only around 30 or so, 10 of those being 9 hole after work rounds. For whatever reason the busyness of the courses has kind of put me off this year, by Tuesday or Wednesday you are already to late to get a tee time at any of the decent tracks near me. And my only real playing partner had us both busy this summer building and running a demolition derby car. My dad plays 2 to 3 times a week in his retiree leagues so he got his fill for sure.

Thinking of joining a local mens league next season so at least I know for sure I'll get one day a week on the course (still would have to be after work) Its my own fault for being self conscious about playing with strangers I guess. Need to force myself to get out more next year for sure. Still plan on getting in as much play as possibly til the end of the season... one 18 hole course and one 9 hole course near me are open year round weather depending which is cool for some winter rounds.
