How long have you been playing your current driver and what is it?

I purchased my Mavrik driver in January, 2020.  I know that's kind of strange time to purchase a driver since it was in the dead middle of winter, but I wanted to swing it (indoors) a lot before going outside with it.

 

I've tried a few other drivers since then but nothing seems to perform as well.  Just feels like it's a part of me.

 

Mavrik 10.5, US Recoils with senior shaft (F2), Lampkin Sonar grips (love them), cut down to 44 inches.

 

Just played an early round yesterday and had some of my best drives that I have ever had with this driver.  Even into the wind (it was gusting to 35 mph yesterday), it performed really good.  

 

Thirteen months with the same driver may be a new record for me.  Hey, like all GolfWREr's, changing equipment is part of our DNA.  I was thinking about upgrading to an Epic Speed or a Titleist Tsi2, but after yesterday, I don't see how I could do any better.

I'm still playing a Ping G30 SFT that I was fitted for years ago, when the G30 came out.

 

I honestly don't think newer drivers will really gain me much - when I swing good, this driver is excellent. When I don't swing excellent, it still does it's job, but it's not a miracle worker. 

 

My game would benefit much more from a better/more consistent driver swing then a new driver. Some days I swing the driver great, and other days not so much. But rather then spending ~$500 on a new driver, more practice and more playing would be much more beneficial, and of course, professional instruction.

 

I don't believe my driver is holding me back by any means. Hell, I'm probably holding it back in most cases.

Cobra F7+ since the year it was new. I keep hitting stuff at the store but nothing beats it. Bag the old Krank for beer scrambles.

Taylormade M4 since it was new so a couple years now?  I know M6 then SIM and now SIM2 came afterwards.  The M4 just works well for me.

Taylormade M3 for about 2 weeks, still playing with shaft and swing weight. But I think I am close. Totally playable now, just think it could be a little better.

TS3 8.5 with Hzrdus smoke. Been using it for 2 weeks, two range sessions. Definitely an upgrade from the 915 on anything less than perfect strikes

TaylorMade 2016 M2 tour issued 8.5 with a Miyazaki Kusala Black 61.

I've tried, but nothing I've come across can match that head & shaft combo for length and forgiveness.

This is my 3rd season on my M3 Taylormade.  I’ve had 5 shafts in this head and have settled up on a x flex KBS TD.  I’ll probably look at a Sim next year on a launch monitor and see if it’s worth then update.

Upgraded from a Ping G400 to a G410 last year and saw some increased distance. In the fall I took my 12 year old to get fit at a Callaway fitting center at our club and decided to compare the G410 to the Mavrik. Was blown away at the extra 20 yards I was getting. Ordered one and it has changed my game. Just fits my eye and the riptide shaft in Stiff works for me.

 

Have tried it against the new Epic and Ping and just can't get the same results. The Mavrik will be around for awhile.

Had my G410 Plus since Aug 2019, been testing out a TSi3 recently but not sure if I'll swap over. The Ping is just too easy to hit. The Titleist is pretty nice though.

Moved from a g400 lst to tsi3 in January.

 

if anything, I’ve given up some distance on middle hits, but the ping had a really low spinner in it which made it occasionally very wild. 
 

the move was intentional, to achieve something I was struggling with. I keep all clubs bar wedges and putter for 4-6 years. As some sage fellow said on here, money spent on professional instruction is worth 100x money spent on sticks, save for the two month ego massage!

I bought a used Callaway Big Bertha Fusion maybe 3-4 years ago. Since then, I've experimented with the Epic Flash Sub Zero (don't think low spin drivers work for me) and a Taylormade Original One Mini Driver. The Fusion just works for me. It's possible I'm leaving something on the table, but I like how it looks, sounds, and launches.

Had an Epic Flash Sub Zero for a couple months now. Love the head, need to look at other shaft options. Just not a huge fan of the feel. Previously I had a Callaway XR16, and I regret selling it. Was a great driver, super forgiving and really long.

2016 GBB again beat out the new drivers for me, 4th or 5th season with it, not sure if this is year 2 or 3 with Ventus black.

I got a Ping G400 SFT in September 2019 that was a big improvement over an old Cleveland Classic driver, more forgiving, straight and around 15m longer. Later on, I tried a Callaway Rogue Draw driver on a demo day that was much better than the Ping and in early January I found it in the bargain barrel of the Pro Shop and got it. Since then, it has been in my bag. I haven’t tried newer versions but probably they are even better. I’m trying to save some money for new irons.

Just got a Tour Edge Exotics EXS 220, with Hzrdus Yellow 6.5. Coming from a Mizuno JPX 900 with Tensei White 70. 

So far, the TEE is noticeably longer and pretty forgiving on my typical heel miss. Will play around with shafts and  length to optimize it, but it’s very good already. Was afraid it wouldn’t make a difference, but it’s noticeable.

Taylormade R15 with a Matrix Red Tie in X. I bought it used two yearsss ago because it was cheap. I find it suitably long and suitably forgiving. I think it will stay in the bag for this year, though I am on the lookout for an upgrade.

917D2 since November 2016.  Trackman numbers have shown it to be ideal for me on three different occasions.  May move to TSi as it’s showing a little age but only if the numbers are ideal-ier...

I’ve been using a Srixon ZX7 for about 2 weeks and have about 6 rounds in with it. Shaft is a Miyazaki Kaula Mizore 6X. I’ve been very pleased with it so far, gorgeous driver, sits great  and very solid. Mid flight and low spin and long. Definitely don’t overlook the new Srixons if you’re searching for a new driver.
