yea pretty crazy but I don’t remember him really finishing well at all in the recent past.  What’s crazier is all the names between 50-100 that I didn’t even know were playing still.

Hope he plays the weekend and not by himself on Sunday.  But I can't imagine this is going to be any different than last year at Winged Foot.  You could give him two swings off every Par 4/5 and I'm not sure it would make much of a difference at this point.

I just checked and it was the 2008 US Open I was referring to. But I was wrong, he did make the cut!

Exactly. And regarding the brand promotion, the fact that he has been rocking the TM Original One for a meaningful amount of time does make me wonder exactly what he can and can't "get away with" so to speak. It is blacked out and obviously in a more niche spot in his bag, but I do wonder what would happen if he bagged another driver. 

At the end of the day though it doesn't matter. Phil gonna be Phil and try to hit stupid bombs with whatever driver he is holding.

He's already done that. Nothing happened to him. He played a blacked out TM SLDR driver in the 2013 Presidents Cup. Callaway claims he can play any club he wants whenever he wants. He's been playing the TM OO since last fall. Has used the RBZ fairway wood in the past. Same with a Ping Anser hybrid and Ping wedges. His club contract is discussed in the article linked.

That's enough with the hateration. I'm no Phil fan but the fact is that he's the #2 draw on tour (and the #1 draw now that TW is out for a while). It's a no-brainer to give him an invite to the event, it will literally lead to millions of dollars in increased revenue.

Of course he's a big draw. Fans only have a narrow window of two days to see him each week he plays on the PGA Tour.
