There are ways to say your clubs are subpar without actually saying it the way Bryson did. In the first few years of his Nike club deal, Tiger knew he was playing with subpar equipment, but his public comments never reflected that. His complaints were all handled behind closed doors. There may have been chatter at tournaments or on the range that other PGA Tour pros overheard, so it was no secret, but he didn't share his views with the press.

Same here, never blamed driver…….now, putter on the other hand (yes, I’m looking at you short stuff), putter has been blamed (rightfully so) in the past. Yeah, you’d better hide behind that sand wedge if you know what’s good for you….

Like the big guy or not this is just a good example of the old saying "People want the truth until you give it to them." People whine when DJ says just enough to get in and put and call him stupid and dumb. Bryson gives honest opinion and how dare he do that.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread. I don’t think most people have an issue with him not being happy with his gamer. (Don’t get me wrong though. Blaming your driver for your poor tee shots is pretty weak) It’s the unprofessionalism of airing it out to the world, when it should have been a closed door conversation. He’s paid a lot of money to endorse Cobra equipment. Definitely not to publicly bash it!

Yup.  Hard to respect a guy who will do that.

 

One thing I started thinking about, when I was listening to Michael Breed, where he was defending him, saying he was saying "we", etc.  was that things had to have been really be building for the Cobra rep to do what he did.  There's no way a guy like that sends out that tweet just based on that statement.  IMO, anyway.  I think that was more of a last straw type thing.

Every paid review is good.  Every sponsorship is perfect.   Keep saying happy happy roses sunshine.   Because you’re paid.

Perhaps the Cobra driver does suck for him right now but he also made it clear how hard the entire crew is working on it.  
 

Sucking for him and his very niche requirement does not mean sucks in general and if the golfing “consumer” can’t figure that out, they are dumber than I thought.  
 

BUT, alas, it’s cool to bash on Bryson and Patrick Reed currently.    So I guess I understand.    ?????

While BDC's arrangement isn't strictly employee/employer, I would assume that he is being paid very handsomely to endorse Cobra's product. There are contractual and, frankly, professional obligations that come with that. It has nothing to do with "being honest" vs. "lying". He has a straight up professional obligation and responsibility to honor that contract.

 

Once he's out of that contract, he can be as blunt as he chooses (within the limits of the law, of course).

 

In typical contract/consult arrangements (sports related or otherwise), if one were to publicly trash the company paying the bills during that contract (and perhaps afterwards, depending on the terms of the contract), I'd expect the trash-talker to 1) be fired, 2) likely be sued.

I was hoping he would have won the St. Jude's tournament as it always nice to see someone bounce back after receiving so much criticism but for the time being he better learn to deal with it. Glad they didn't interview him after his round Sunday as out of bounds, hit it in the water twice and Wow! he putted like crap. At least he didn't throw any clubs or throw any tantrums. I seen where his buddy Brooks did just as bad, rough day for both

Brooks was almost DFL. He’s not the same player he used to be.

True. Guess he will just have to sit on those 4 majors for now.
 Any coverage Brooks and Bryson get lately definitely isn’t for great golf. Neither is playing well. For Koepka it could def be the knee issues. For Bryson it could have something to do with all the off course distractions. Lately he’s been sticking his foot in his mouth and getting blow back for it. And having your caddy quit on you like that has definitely got to take a huge toll. A lot of things piled up all at the same time for him. Of course if that’s the case, he can look in the mirror for the culprit.

The LTD was super low spin and probably the lowest CoG of all the Cobra drivers ever so at his speed it's probably just a better fit for him.

I'm still expecting for Cobra to get some long drive stuff made for him and Berkshire and that will be the eventual driver he puts in the bag consistently.
