Not sure about My Golf Spy

So I've followed My Golf Spy for a few years now.  I always appreciated what they do in their testing process, still do, but I don't know how I feel about their "thoughts" in general.  When I say that I mean that recently they have been putting out some stuff that I don't really agree with and some phishing posts on their social media.  The free fitting thing that they started would be amazing, yes but I don't see how they expect quality fittings to be free.  When "debating" with R.B. there was so solution or idea on how to make it work.  The only thing that was said was, "That is an industry problem to figure out."  Frankly I was always told that you don't point out a problem unless you have a suggestion for a solution.

 

Second, on their social media (IG) I am constantly seeing on their stories/reels the Kirkland Signature V3.2 getting cut in half.  Now this is not a big deal, however whenever there is any discussion of the Kirkland ball on the podcast it is always stated in a negative and sarcastic tone.  I understand that this ball is one of the more controversial balls out there but using it as clickbait seems backwards as the negative tone of the ball on the channel.  

 

These are completely my opinions and stupid I know but as a golf nerd I value the information that they give, I just am not a fan of the way the information is directed to the listeners/readers.

MGS is good for getting news on new releases and various products but you can find that same stuff on a lot of websites. 

The only really interesting thing about MGS were the club tests with the actual Trackman figures. Their "proprietary" and secret "Strokes Gained" metric which they use to rank clubs seems arbitrary and of doubtful value.

They also are a bunch of PXG fanboys for clubs and Titleist for balls; their bias is obvious.

They've lost a lot of credibility over the years and don't seem to be objective anymore IMO. They posted something the other week on IG, (can't remember what it was at the moment), but I remember commenting that it was a useless test and the results were anecdotal at best. Surprised I didn't get flamed by the account.

I appreciate the site for what it is.  They work hard and do a good job.  I've been with Golfwrx for a long time and value it for what it is as well. (I've actually been with golfwrx longer than it says, but I changed usernames at one point).  Anyway - there's pluses and minuses to both.  Lots and lots and lots of pluses here for sure!!!

I agree with this.  I enjoy looking at the most wanted test data because I believe they aren't manipulating it and I apply my own interpretations of it.  But I do ignore the commentary and their own conclusions and I find the writing style over there to be a bit preachy and weird.

100% agree and would add being provocative or controversial gets page clicks which is a matrix they seem to really care about. If they’d be open to narratives other than their own it would be a nice  but alas, they prefer to drive their opinions down our throats..

I've never visited that site in particular, but it's nice that other forums exist in case you get banned from ones that you like.
