A $50 per iron increase over i210's, to $175, would be a 40% increase and at $200 an iron would be 60%.

 

That seems excessive, even given this economic climate.

 

Then again, the i59's were what, $250?  If Ping hopes to sell more than the 40 sets of i59's they moved, hoping a rational price prevails.

100% nailed it.  Yes inflation is up but nowhere near the levels given as examples here. And spare the "$125 was 4 years ago". Mizuno has been selling Hot Metals and Hot Metal Pros for $125 the past 2 years. Anything over $150 a club is a money grab.

They are not going to cost anymore per iron than the i525.

I would bet my paycheck that they will be priced the same as i525s. $1499 for 8 clubs. That seems to be the standard going rate for anything remotely close to these irons.

Of course Ping has sold more than 40 sets.  But the adoption rate for this iron, as shown by their own pro staff, likely is well below their forecast.

I know you weren’t being literal, but why the focus on the i59 price point in an unreleased i230 iron Picture Thread? No one is forcing you to buy anything. Are you in every other manufactures equipment bashing their prices as well? Pretty much every major manufacturer is approaching the $200 mark on irons. For some reason it seems that Ping threads bring out more banter than most, unless it’s a PXG thread of course.

I like the grooves on the i210 and the finish on the i230.
