Pleats are back??

  Not a fan of pleats or baggy pants but also not a fan of the slim or skinny golf pants. From Bonobos today.

 

HISTORY RE-PLEATS ITSELF

The phrase “pleated pants” might make you think of your grandpa’s slacks, but gramps had great style, and great style always returns. What was once old hat is now new pants — new incredible pants.

Joggers yes.  But even worse.  Wrx’ers were actually showing up at the course like this.  Don’t deny it.

Pleats can work if you have a bit of weight in the mid section or are older. Definitely not my style but I don't really pay attention to other people clothes (especially if they are the pleated pants type) on the course unless they are wearing something I could see myself buying.

One of my friends wear the baggy pleated pants every time on the golf course.  They used to fit him but he lost 20 lbs.  Now they are really baggy and pleated.  Another year or two and he'll be stylin' again!

Worn the same style jeans for 40+ years.  Been in and out of fashion at least 4 times.

 

I'd wear my old pleated pants, but that was 20 lbs ago.

Look at what is popular today in women’s fashion. Super high-wasted, arm pit hugging pants. In my wildest dreams, i never would have thought “mom” style pants would come into fashion. I assume it was a response to low-wasted “muffin tops” sweeping across the world. As the human race gets fatter, there has to be a fashion response. Here come the pleats...most men that wore pleats in the past had a shape that made them look like they had an estrogen imbalance.

Pleats are fine if the pants actually fit. What most people associate with pleats have huge amounts of fabric through the seat and thigh with a taper from the kneed down that made them look even bigger than they were.

 

A well tailored, single pleat looks just as good if not better than a flat front. More often than not, I see people wearing flat front pants that either way too tight or way too loose because they need the room through the hip and seat. A pleat isn't for every body type but it's probably better fitted for a lot of people than what they're currently wearing

Being raised to think "if you don't have something nice to say" belief, I think that would be a really good style for those working from home.

Agreed.  Also, pleated pants should be worn on the waist & not below it.  They drape nicely when worn on the waist.  They billow & look bad when worn below the waist.

I got no issue with a pleat like Hogan has here in dress slacks. It works with a suit or a nice sweater like he is wearing.
