I thought he was just dodging a golf club. I don't remember hearing anything about being under the influence.

He told his gal pal that he was taking an ambian and going to sleep. Then his wife gets his phone, probably while he's dozing off, she calls gal pal then goes off on Tiger, he gets out of bed to get out of there, gets in car and has a wreck outside of his home because he's effed up. Sleeping on the side of the road effed up.  Now this. We'll find out the actual cause.  Pray for his kids and pray that he gets the help he needs.  He's a junkie and it's not that easy to stop.  Whether you're shooting heroine or swallowing a pill, they are both the same outcome and both are not easy to stop. Once a junkie, always a junkie, once an alcoholic, always a alcoholic-for the rest of your life. All you can do is take it one day at a time to stay off of it.

im not caught up in the dui thing and havent speculated.

crossing the median in a tank over the speed limit are the facts as we know them. Honestly, people speculating on a likely date for his comeback need a bit of perspective

Right, I’m just going by the facts and don’t see why there has to be a rush to judgment.

And I agree, any talk about when Tiger will be playing golf again isn’t looking at the reality of the situation. Let’s find out when he’ll be able to stand up and walk again first.

What TW wouldn't give to be a know it all on GolfWRX right now, a regular joe going to a skins game at the local muni.  Too many highs and lows at the superstar level.  I still think he did not seem that blitzed at the Genesis, and at that hour of the morning of the crash, I lean to speeding/distracted, like texting or something, but who knows.   Only know him as an image, still feel for the guy.  Cannot imagine being rolled into an surgery room that many times in an otherwise healthy life.

What I read from the hospital said both legs were operated on weren't they? The right was much much more serious though.

That was the way I interpreted it, not sure if it's correct though. All the early reports said both legs seriously injured but sounds like the right was much more severe.

The sheriff or deputy probably just misspoke if they said there were multiple people in the car. They originally said they used the jaws of life, but later took that back. People misspeak, it happens.

You know...I think for many on here the comments are a stream of consciousness, like hanging around the waiting room waiting for news about a friend or coworker. It's only natural to just say whatever. All comments are from people who have feelings for Tiger and posting something as a way to say, thinking about you. We are not Tiger's friend or coworker but media allows us to feel that way.

Glad to hear TW is stabilized and on the road to recovery.  Can anyone confirm if the Elder Wand putter is ok?

I'd like to know this as well.. I don't believe he's been using the scotty outside of competition.. all the pics I've seen online of his "celebrity" matches have shown various TM putters in his bag... Likely for advertising/marketing..

All I know is that if he does compete and win again... !

TW is not out of the rough medically.  Recall the F1 driver Ronnie Peterson's 1978 crash at Monza.  Survived the shattered legs but a fat embolism led to fatal complications.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Peterson (Bone marrow contains fat that enters the bloodstream after major leg bone trauma. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3665122/)

I will be truly shocked if he ever plays pro golf competitively again.  If he were in his 20s I'd have some optimism about resurrecting a workable game.

Statement from Tiger's team indicates surgery on right leg only, broken fibula and tibia, ankle and foot

Thanks to the mods for stepping in and hopefully cleaning up some of the trash.

Any talk of a return to golf at this point is very premature. Not only are the leg and ankle injuries severe, but keep in mind that the impact itself may have caused other issues that are as yet unknown. Before the details came out, I found myself wondering how such a jolt might have affected his recently-repaired back, for instance. Seems likely that we will not be seeing him at a golf course for quite a while without crutches or a chair. Wishing him all the best for recovery to let him live a normal life off the course.

Yes indeed. The fact that they had to cut the muscle casing (on top of multiple open fractures) means he was likely at risk for losing the foot/lower leg. He very well may have an alex smith like road to recovery

Alex Smith got complications a few days after the surgery due to a flesh-eating disease. He almost lost his leg. Tiger isn’t out of the woods yet due to his compound fracture, but hoping that he does just fine.
