Bryson should just go do long drive.  He’s obviously not interested in being #1 in golf.  ( my opinion). 

Wow, now I am even more impressed with Bryson.  Being able to be #6 in the world without desire to be #1 is impressive indeed.

It ain’t hurting him much.   Yes, I acknowledge he has, relatively, struggled of late but he was doing the speed training when he was hot as well so the ire is misplaced.

It ain’t hurting him much.   Yes, I acknowledge he has, relatively, struggled of late but he was doing the speed training when he was hot as well so the ire is misplaced.

He’s no doubt already been doing the  speed training on a regular basis. But one can assume he will be doing quite a bit more work than normal with the LD driver in preparation for that event yes? I’d think that would most likely have an adverse effect on his timing with the regular gamer.

Wasn’t he experimenting with a 48” driver he was hoping to put into play when he was playing his best?

Many clubs traditionally have had maybe a third to at most half of their members be avid golfers.  At least at my club it seems most of the current membership is avid and seeking tee times.

Experimenting with and actually preparing for a LD event. I’d hypothesize the diff. would be a lot more reps with it than when he was in the experimental phase 🤷🏼‍♂️ Guess we will just have to wait and see how he drives it at the RC.

For those who don't know him, Josh is a great coach and pro long driver.  Beat Berkshire head to head in the finals to win one of the pro events this year.  He thinks Bryson will contend.

I don’t dislike bryson.  I choose him over Bruce.  But.  Bryson isn’t going at it like say Rahm , or even cam smith.  Bryson is doing a bit of carnival barking on the side.  And It has to be hurting his actual golf game.  He has all the talent there is.  But I haven’t seen any consistency yet.

He’s said so himself that he gets bored and burnt out easily with golf. I think he will be a way better player in his 30s-40s when he settles down a little bit.

at least he’s willing to go out and potentially be embarrassed and get last place.

 

I do think he’s doing it for marketing reasons but I can’t blame him for that.

I don't see why anyone would get bent out of shape by this. He has no chance but i mean, it's good for the event for sure, and if he wants to do it good for him

To me, this is no different than NBA players showing up at the Rucker Tournament or playing in celebrity all-star games (or MLB players playing celebrity softball events). Bubba was approached about doing the Long Drive thing several years ago.  He chose not to and said the 48" driver was throwing off his timing for regular PGA events  (he uses a 44.5" driver).  This shouldn't affect Bryson as much since he uses a longer driver to begin with.  I hope he does well.  He won't win, but hopefully he has a good showing.  His stupid, childish feud with Brooks Koepka is annoying, but I don't mind Bryson for the most part (I like him better than Brooks).   When he loses (or doesn't place well), I just hope he doesn't blame Cobra.

You’re probably right about the live numbers but just about everyone that follows the tour is going to want to see a clip of how Bryson performed.
