Not on the green, in the fairway when Bryson was hitting his approach. Cantlay was walking up the other side of the fairway.

DeChambeau was going to hit his approach, then caught Cantlay moving from the corner of his eyes. He said (pretty loudly) "Patrick, can you stop moving?"

Had a guy like this in my golf league.  Would direct where people had to stand on the tee box so he didn't see them in his backswing.  Also told me he could hear my club when I was taking practice swings on the other side of the fairway.  Always enjoyed kicking his butt when I was paired with him.

It is one for the books when Rocky meets Rocky. Both men played well, made great shots, unfortunate shots, and kept moving forward in any case thus and I am sorry there could only be one winner but for me notwithstanding charges of being overly sentimental, there was no loser among these two as far as I am concerned.

I stretched the analogy to underline my actual point, which was that comparing Bryson’s irons to another player’s by name or number is silly.
 

He plays different gear. He’s made it a huge part of his identity. Still, throughout the final round and playoff, the booth boobs kept saying “Cantlay has six iron here where Bryson only had wedge…that’s a huge advantage for Bryson.” 
 

No. The advantage is his length, and the fact that he’s coming in from 160 instead of 190, but it’s not that he’s hitting wedge to someone else’s six iron. His pitching wedge is more like someone else’s eight iron, conservatively.

Just a great playoff. Wow. Both players were amazing, but I have to say the pen (putter) was mightier than the sword (driver) today. Congrats, Patrick!

It’s also pretty interesting how  Cantlay got cast in the David role of the David v Goliath narrative when he was putting it out there 300+ all day. Maybe that’s fairly typical Tour distance these days? He was getting 170+ ball speed on his tee ball.
