Most Underrated Ball You Ever Played?

Years ago I found a Top Flite D2 Feel and played it. Ended up buying more. Played really well. Also, years ago I was on a scramble team that set and broke our league record and I was playing the Lynx Black Cat. How about you?

From a purely distance perspective, the Callaway HX Hot were (at that time) longer than anything else I tried.

One tee shot in particular stands out. I was gaming Mizuno MX-23 (with S300 shafts) at the time, teed off with a 4i on a short (330yd) par-4. No wind, hole ran straight from tee to green with no dogleg. Typically tee shot with my 4 was around 200yds. I flushed it, one of those shots where there was no sensation of impact. Got up to my ball and I was just inside 90yds to the green. It was at least a 230-yd 4-iron.

I know I flushed it, but that ball was long when you hit it on the screws. Of course, it didnt have the spin or feel around the greens that ProVs etc have. But if you were in a scramble and it was the long drive hole, this was the ball I'd switch to...

Funny thing about the Lynx Black Cat - I could spin that sukka on approach shots unlike any other ball. I'd zing it backwards right off the green. Once, I had an audience at the green on 18 and didn't see the ball but heard the reaction.

Pinnacle Exception years ago. Found a couple. So soft and straight, launched high off the irons so the relative lack of spin wasn’t a big issue.

Top Flite Gamer V2 (when Callaway still made them). Used them during the round when I broke par for the first time.

I played Dunlop DDH for at least a few years! They were short off the tee, but I kept playing them for whatever reason.

Wilson makes great balls, but doesn't get the notoriety like the other big OEMs.

The current golfball that fits this for me is the Wilson 50 Elite. It's surprising in its performance, the only possible negative is that it's designed to fly a bit higher than is always good for my already high trajectory game.

The Ultimate Answer is the old Precept U Tri Extra Spin. It was largely ignored in favor of the U Tri Tour. Slightly firmer multilayer, urethane cover, its name wasn't necessarily indicative of its place in the market. It was really the U Tri ball for the higher speed players. I switched to it late in its product cycle, gained a club to club-and-a-half with irons, a few yards with driver, with no loss of greenside performance. It was quite frankly amazing. And then it vanished.

Shot my best 18 hole score ever with the Snell Get Sum - 2 piece, non-urethane straight distance orb. Plays great, though.

Shot my best 9 hole score ever just last week, though, with the Snell MTB-X. 2 over, including a lost ball. Never played like that before. Today...I'm meeting a buddy after work...with the Get Sum.

Original Snell MTB. Dean was getting his new company going and getting organized but at the time, a few other small DTC companies were like Vice and Cut were jumping on the scene and respectably so, not bad balls but, MTB was it.
