I've taken Norco multiple times, some extended, for back issues. Has no effect whatsoever on my cognitive function, that I can perceive. I also don't drink, but know that combination can be a disaster. I also know that you can toss what I said because it (Norco and or alcohol) affects people differently and then you've got the dosage question. My wife, for example, can get loopy quick on a small amount of alcohol. And all this is assuming he was DUI, and we don't know that yet.

Really hate this. I've seen all of his wins and most of his other tournaments and I've just had this huge respect for what he's done in this great game.

Crash was at 7:45 am approx. so not sure about alcohol. Sure hope that wasn't the case.

Compound fractures, is this confirmed? If so, it’s terrible news. Will hope they can save his legs to begin with.

Assuming they legs can be saved, worst case it's an Alex Smith type of deal, best case he is walking pretty normal in 6 months.   I severely broke my leg, not compound but close, and I was sort of hitting a ball in 4 months, I have issue 14 years later but it's about 6-12 months before you feel somewhat normal again

Actually way back in the day ( remember I am an old fart) they were invented and made by the Hurst Company and were trademarked Hurst Jaws of Life. Kinda one of those things like some old timers call any knid of refrigerator a Frigidare or a washing machine a Kenmore. Yep they have come a long ways for you guys still in the service with battery packs. Yep I remember we had a seperate engine and hydraulic unit to run them.

New addition with batteries and I'm RETIRED!  Lol......the generator sets have gotten lighter.....especially the genesis systems.....Hurst was clumsy and heavier

TMZ is almost always right. I know its weird because they are a tabloid but their track record is pretty good

Yeah as others have said. And that said sounds pretty sensationalistic, as in to move a point, so I will just wait until at least 2-3 other sites have verified it.

Wow. He didn’t look good on TV Sunday. Looked drug upped like he did a few years back. Did that cause the crash? Prescription drugs due to being in pain is never a good thing if that was the case; there’s always the temptation to use and abuse again.

Since it is a history with him after surgery, I would have the same question.  Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, etc.  I'm sure the facts will come out.

Yep, even some pretty good case outcomes just the likely recovery time alone would be tough to overcome.

Man, just yesterday I posted the following on the "TIGER-FINISHED???" thread:

"I look at any time Tiger's in contention from here on out as just a bonus.  No expectations, but fun when it happens.  Love him or hate him (or anything in between) when he's in the mix on Sunday there's simply nothing else like it in golf."

Little did I know less than 24 hours later his competitive days would almost certainly be over.

Try to appreciate each day everyone!

With a compound leg fracture and a shattered ankle, Tiger probably is finished playing competitively.

There are two things you can learn by stopping your backswing at the top and checking the position of your hands: how many hands you have, and which one is wearing the glove.

If he went immediately into surgery, the police may not have obtained a blood sample.

The doctors are not supposed to release his information (HIPAA).

In addition to possible DUI drugs (prescription meds) and/or DUI drugs/alcoholic beverages it could have been:

  • Driving too fast
  • Looking at a cell phone (distracted driving)
  • An animal ran out in front of him and he overcorrected to avoid it.

Lots of possibilities but DUI drugs seems most likely.

Tiger is 45. If this is it for him he gave it a hell of a run. The 2019 Masters was amazing. This is why I love golf. A guy can have easily a 25 year career of good play. With other sports most guys are done at 35.

I hope he recovers enough to keep enjoying life. Its a bonus if he plays again.

1997, 2004, and 2019 Masters are basically the most memorable sporting events of my life, and Tiger was at the helm of two of them.  I worry for his legacy that the "what could have been" will overshadow that "what was," especially after today.  I have blown a lot of hot air in this thread, but mostly am just sad to see all this.

I just now tuned in and am looking at the vehicle.  It looks like it flipped end over end.  Is that a highway?  You gotta be going fairly fast for that to happen.

Watching the coverage on KTLA and it looks like that’s the case. Commentator with some investigative experience looking at the video said that it did not roll since there was no damage to the body sides and roof, but the front end took a big impact and the rear end also had damage. Speculation is that the front end hit a bank or tree roots and that did most of the damage and possibly caused the vehicle to go end over end.  The entire front end was pushed back to the base of the windshield and it appeared that the engine and transmission were pushed partly under the car probably as it was designed to do in a wreck. There appeared to be some roots and dirt embedded into what was left of the engine compartment. Nasty wreck.

Wow, so he was headed into the opposite lane for a while?  Very fortunate that no one in an oncoming car was hurt or killed.

I am not the biggest Tiger fan either and agree he did not look his best on Sunday, however before speculating about what he may or may not have been on, let's think about the following. He was traveling north and possibly was unfamiliar with the roads. Thinking he was supposed to exit left of the roadway went into the wrong lane and another car was coming. He attempted to avoid them and veered into the ditch, trees, etc? The overhead video makes that road look somewhat confusing and easily misinterpreted.

I think his $70k SUV probably has navigation.
