What three wedges do you roll with? P, Sand, Lob, Gap? Or do you go all 4?

I go 46, 50, 56 when I play 3w and 5w. I add a 60 when I go with just a 4w

I stop at 54° SW.  I've tried more lofted wedges but can't convince myself to swing hard enough with them and always come up short.  And I tend to add a little dynamic loft at impact so can hit the 54° high enough.

A good part of my clubs are wedges. I play a set of Ping iE1 irons from 2015 that has a 45* PW and 50* U wedge. I also use Cleveland Wedges in 52, 56 & 60*. 

 

PW- 130 yards

U - 120 yards

52- 110 yards

56- 100 yards

60- 85 yards

The 56 and 60 have different bounces and grinds. Those differences — rather than the different lofts — are why I keep them both instead of just going with a 58.

I go with all 4 right now, PW, AW(GW), SW, LW. I'm looking at a new set of irons and would probably just go PW, SW, LW as the set of irons I'm looking at does include a matched AW(GW). I could always eventually go with a gap of a different look if I feel I really need that.

If your relatively new to the game, and I’m thinking you might be, I’d get a 56 degree wedge and you will be all set for the foreseeable future.  Almost all golfers are going to benefit from something 56 degrees or at least 54 degrees.  If I wasn’t going to have a lob wedge I would personally go 56 for sure.  Lob wedges are tricky for new golfers and you will be able to do anything you need to do with a 56.  It will make most bunker shots easier and give you an option for delicate shots around the green and you can open the face if you need to hit a higher shot or want to try and hit a flop (usually not a good idea if you are new to the game).  At some point you may want a lob wedge, but it really depends on how much practice you put in and how serious you get.  Many people are just fine with a 56 as their highest lofted wedge, and many would be better off if they never hit their lob wedge.

That's a solid yardage spread on smooth swings and works perfectly for my game. I've got a new 60 on order with a different sole grind, as the one I have is horrible out of bunkers, but awesome everywhere else. It needs to be awesome out of bunkers too (like the 55) to stay in the bag.

Just gone from 4 wedges (PW, 50, 54, 58) down to 3 (PW, 52, 56) so I could put a hybrid and DI into my bag. I'm a lot more comfortable taking some distance off a wedge than I am the longer clubs, and never really used my 58, so thought I'd tweak the set up a bit. Only 3 games in, but so far so good.

 

(Expect me to be back to 4 wedges next week in that case :))

Currently FOUR: 46 (set wedge), 50, 54, 58 (all Mizunos)

 

Considering FIVE (all Vokeys): 46F, 50F, 54S, 58D, 62M (some of these already ordered)

 

I love playing a low-bounce 62 and a high bounce 58. Might go back to that and just pull my five iron out. Can usually cover that distance pretty well with my relatively high-launching HMB four-iron. The Vokey 54S is my all-time favorite chipping club.

I’ve got PW, GW, SW and LW (46, 50, 54, 58).  Still not sure I need 4 wedges as it has not really provided any benefit I can tell.  I may bend the GW back to 52 degrees (as it was originally) and take out the SW to have PW, GW and LW (46, 52, 58).

I've gone with 46, 54, 56, 60 I find two sand wedges to be more useful and would rather be short than long on approach shots.
