Will is new to the Tour & only 25.

I had no idea 😀

what gave it away?

the fact that he looks 21 or the fact that we’ve only seen him on tour the past couple years?

Please let me know because I was trying so hard to hide these facts

Who’s that?

On their ambassador list it has Zach Johnson as playing a full bag with a prototype putter, I don’t believe that. Henrik Norlander is next with everything but the putter.

most of their players play the irons and wedges

I tend to think if yipasaurus Zala goes to a regular length mallet with conventional grip he probably stands a better chance.

what’s the point of arm lock, saw grip if you’re still gonna suck

Maybe with conventional you can still run in a 20 footer here and there

love his full swing

Agree.  In short ones it’s so yippy that I strayed turning my head from the tv.  I mean it’s bad.  Fill figure 8 to just flinch and stabs.   It cannot be worse with a conventional grip.  It’s just can’t.  I just can’t understand how you can control a club in full swing and not be able to build a putting stroke ? At all.

It's not only bad, it's unbearable to watch.  Whoever his coaches were growing up, how in the heck did they miss that?  It's definitely ingrained and going to take some serious work to correct.  And he should do just that.  His ball striking is just too good to waste.

Zalatoris' putt in the playoff was pulled so early, it had no chance.

I wonder if he might ask Webb Simpson for advice, who is probably the best putter with that style/grip.

List missed worse putts than Zalatoris yesterday.

Zalatoris is definitely working at it and a yip is not as easy to overcome as many think. It’s a tremor in one of his arms that acts up under pressure.

Yep. Faldo said it was a right edge putt. He pulled it to left edge off the blade. Then it went left at the last second.  Faldo had it read right.        When your stroke is that bad ( I know because I was once there ) it’s hard to say how much is the stroke and how much is the read. You can’t accurately read a putt if you're used to seeing it come off the face in a shotgun pattern. So it’s two parts guess.

Romo who he plays with a bunch said he’s never seen anyone work so hard on his putting. It’s baffling to be THAT good controlling a club going 127 mph to not being able to control a stroke that goes 6 inches. But that’s why golf is great. You can’t have it all.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but I didn't see anyone tee off with anything but driver. I don't think I've ever watched 5+ hours of golf and not see a 3 wood or iron off the tee at least once.

There is good practice and then there is bad practice. The misses come up often enough on short putts and they really shouldn't for a professional.  If he really is practicing that hard, he needs to change something in his practice.

In today's age, he could call any putting guru and be working with them within hours.  Short misses are correctable, especially while he's still at a young age.

If that's true, that's some golf karma.  He'll learn.  List winning is a great story.  It was the journeyman vs the up and comer.  Zalatoris has the ball striking to win a Major, or two, over the next ten years.

Another great example of how great ballstrikers/mediocre putters just need an average week on the greens to win.

Very true.  But it’s also true that it’s a shame to waste that much talent. Learning to putt would take this kid from “ trying to win “ to “ the next person liable to win multiple majors in a season “.   That a huge jump.  But it can’t be done with that putting stroke.  That’s sub par for the bogey seniors Wednesday night dogfight.

That could be due to the length of the South Course especially the back nine. One of the announcers said on Friday that the back was playing in excess of 4000 yards. Mind blowing!

Agreed - Two of the worst SG putters on tour (189 / 122) and great SG tee to green (23 / 9) grabbing the top spots and 2.5M $… pretty sure Broadie and Fawcett had a big grin on all day yesterday… great ball striking always was and always will be the biggest differentiator

I got the ESPN+ and disappointed in the coverage. They only have featured groups and specific holes. You can watch some golf, but don't really get to see what is going on in the tournament because you can't watch the leaders and watch the drama as it unfolds in real time. It is like watching a movie where you only get to see random short clips of the movie and only have that to put together a plot. They totally strategized it that way. 😝😂

True. But 3 of the 4 major champions from last year were ranked outside the top 100 in SG putting

While I agree with you, the question is.....where is this great ball striking coming from ....the fairway or the rough. According to some you should hit it as far as you can regardless of location landing and others stating you must hit the fairway on any legitimate course.........which one is it?

The players might be last in SG for the season, but i don't think that's the case on Sunday coming down the stretch.....IMO
