The cream of junior golfers. Once they get their check they will never been seen from again in the world of golf because they won't be able to play a the level required on the PGA Tour. Much like in the NBA where, in years past, once you signed with an agent, either you played in the NBA or were never seen again. A lot of careers ruined.

Great plan.

Those two already can’t play at the level required by the top PGA Tour players

"Greg Norman, the two-time major champion who is chief executive of LIV Golf, the entity overseeing the tour, told Telegraph Sport that players including a two-time major winner have been in talks over joining. Norman also claimed that the release of controversial comments by Phil Mickelson concerning Saudi Arabia was part of a conspiracy to derail the venture.

According to LIV Golf, the final details are being confirmed but they “hope to announce some of the players in the coming weeks”. These are thought to include Bubba Watson, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Kevin Na."

It's no fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

So it's Martin Kaymer (make me laugh) or Bubba (watch him cry)?  Not seeing DJ or Morikawa.

Then who? Adam Scott and Westwood seem certain.

Not seeing Greg's big announcement being all that big but he keeps saying what it's all about - loads of cash, we've got loads of cash.

It will be entertaining to see how Norman hypes these career "tweens" into a product, but it doesn't seem like they really care.  They've got loads of cash.

I was trying to figure out who his 2 majors guy was and landed on Bubba. Forgot all about Kaymer to be honest, still not sure if he even plays. Who else could it be?  Retief Goosen? Lol.

Gotta be Kaymer - likes that desert golf (even though there may not be much of it) and wearing the snood, lol.

Something about all this brings to mind "not with a bang, but a whimper".

“Quite honestly, it doesn't matter who plays, we're going to put the event on,” he said. “There's a $4m first prize. I hope a kid who’s 350th in the world wins. It’ll change his life, his family’s life."

$4M first prize and prize money increases with $6M and $8M first prizes. If I'm 350th guy in the world, I hope nobody plays, but so far Bubba, Westwood, Poulter, Na, and Kokrak are on the roster, so there is going to be some competition.

I'd play if they let me. Not sure if I would break 90 under those conditions, but with no cut with guaranteed prize money, who cares? Sign me up.😂

Bubba and Na are official?

So assuming Scott, Westwood, Kaymer and Luke Donald and throw in a bunch of yo-hos from the Euro Tour or whomever Norman and the "group" could lure from the Asian Tour and some so-so guys from the PGA Tour ---- yes, there is money, money, money, but given casual golf fans aren't going to be drawn in by any of these guys to golf's equivalent of a pillow fight there seems to be absolutely nothing else.  Give me $10 every time Norman says the winner gets $4m, but that's all he's got - Phil ruined the opportunity for any spin anyone will take seriously.  Just seems crass.

That is what was reported by the Telegraph. The article has a paywall though. The Golf Monthly article below explains if you can't read the Telegraph article. It is going to get interesting to see what happens now since those guys are PGA tour players.

These guys must not care about playing majors

If they are banned from the pga tour and just playing a few events with horribly weak fields, even if the events get owgr points, they will be infinitesimal.

They won’t be able to qualify for majors for very long.

Of course, I expect some serious lawsuits from these guys, backed by the LIV $, to sue the tour like crazy.

If they do, it depends on if a judge allows the ban to stand during litigation or not.

That’s the same article everyone has seen. They are “targets”, but neither announced nor confirmed.

So Kevin Na, 32nd ranked, is the best they have and the Saudis are willing to lose $2 Billion? Who is in the business to lose $2 Billion? I don't why they are doing this, sport washing or to ruin an American Institution, but I won't watch. Hope the PGA Tour and the Majors can ban these players forever.

I'd be highly surprised if someone like Bubba went with the Saudis. But then again sadly not much surprises me anymore about what I see circling the drain.

I hope I’m not circling the drain, at least not yet.  I still haven’t reached my WRX prime even with my reputation as a controversial member

you have to look at the long term. IMO the SGL isnt going to go after the established members of the PGA Tour, they will go after the rising stars from Korn Ferry, the Euro Tour, Asia, Canada, kids fresh from the NCAA and others who have no allegiance to the PGA Tour, when the establishment sees journeymen and kids making money the have nots on the will come, even some Champions Tour players will come running...BUT sooner or later somebody or some group of players will challenge the PGA Tour's rules and it may go all the way to the SCOTUS...remember history, nobody thought the AFL would last, or the ABA or even the USFL 2.0...

when Lamar Hunt owned the KC Chiefs ( previously the Dallas Texans) and reportedly lost a million dollars his first year, they asked his dad billionaire HL Hunt what he thought, and his reply was "...I think he has enough for another 20 years or so "
