Overall, a very entertaining format and much better than I was expecting!

Tiger has never been meticulous about his Scotty. How many times have we seen him use it to pull balls out of the hole on the practice green? If you’ve seen close up photos it is well used, bordering on beat up.

I would have never expected this, but Manning and Brady may have been the highlights for me. They were both endearingly nervous, and it showed.

Everyone was ragging on Brady on the front 9, but in all honesty he did look like a high single digits handicap. On the front 9 he looked like one of those decent swingers who is having one of those nightmares where you're trying to run but your legs aren't working. We've all had those rounds. You try to think, okay just play your game, but the pressure of bad shots adding up makes you think about your every swing. You're all out of sorts and there's no way to get it back right.

But then eventually you hit a good shot, settle down, find your footing, and end up having a pretty okay round. If you ignore the front 9, at least.

This was fantastic, I wish there were more of these throughout the year. Doesn't have to be Tiger and Phil, but you can get entertaining guys to pair up with other high profile people, but the trick is getting the right ones. They paired a very talkative Phil with a bit more reserved Brady, and a talkative Peyton with a more reserved Tiger.

 

I was crapping on Brady, but then they showed everything, and they were playing it close to 6,900 yards long and in terrible conditions, so I'll give him a bit of a break as that would be hard for anyone thats not on tour.

I also got a better idea of Phil, how much he loves to play, he was really having fun. Pretty amazing/legendary group and he was like a kid out there.

 

Tiger was just off the green with a 15 footer and gave Brady his putt and Phil looked at Brady all serious and was like, “That’s actually not a good sign for us, means he’s felling good over that”. Course TW missed but that was funny.

I thought the whole coverage was excellent. Cart cams great idea. I liked the weather actually it just totally played havoc with the telecast. Like purple haze moments.

And finally Peyton and Tom playing a 6800yd. course in heavy rain for most part, in front of millions of people for serious charity, and tough guy ams on here kicking them for playing not so good on front. Laughable.

Par 5s with small greens are insanely interesting. Forces a player to hit a great shot to reach in 2 and presents a possible tougher 3rd from just off the green versus at wedge difference.

I also said that Seminole is prob more fun to play.

Side note: Peyton Manning is a big dude. He looked ripped. And at 6'5" he made Tiger look like a little boy in comparison.

I'm a big Tiger fan but this proves he is definitely not built like a linebacker. He's not even built like a quarterback!

As a player with a HC in the neighborhood of both Brady's and Manning's - their play looked entirely realistic to me given the circumstances. I have no problem believing either one of their HCs as being accurate. I could easily see myself blowing up to an astronomically bad, all-time horrible score under those pressures, spotlight and conditions. Kudos to both for mostly holding it together.

It was fantastic listening to both Phil and Tiger coach their players. Pure gold.

That telecast absolutely buried last week’s TM advertisement. The weather spiced it up: two very nervous Ams in Brady and Manning finally finding a rhythm in torrential downpours and against arguably the two best active pro golf players in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, and I am glad I have it saved on my DVR.

Brady’s swing didn’t look terrible, but his lack of knowledge of basic rules, and how bad he was on a few of those chip shots, makes an 8hcp hard to believe. Peyton’s swing looked a bit awkward with the limited shoulder turn, but from top through impact he looked really good. Obviously he was terrific with his irons, so assuming his driver problems were an off day or the course or conditions got to him, I can believe he is a single digit.

This was so great, My GF - who knows nothing about golf - watched every minute with me and loved it. Buddies who have probably never watched a tournament were texting me all "Dude, are ALL golf tournaments like this?"

Always loved Sir Charles, JT was cracking me up the whole time, Manning was freakin' hilarious (and man, his iron play is solid), the guys looked to be having a blast even in the shitty conditions - great production all around.

And yeah, Tiger's game looked SHARP.

I can't imagine Brady has been playing much golf between the end of the playoffs last year and going to Tampa, his swing looked alright. Pretty entertaining stuff, Peyton was awesome. I don't think Tigers mic was working, didn't really hear from him at all except when someone elses mic picked it up.

I was entertained much more than I thought I would be, this was a fun event for sure. I’m a low single cap and, as much as it kills me, I have to give some empathy to Tom. I’ve had numerous rounds where it felt like I’ve never played golf before. Under the pressure I can’t imagine what I’d shoot.

LOL that's great. Love him or not Phil was one of the key ingredients to this match. The guy is a great BSer and catalyst for conversation and banter.

Regarding Tiger‘s mic and speaking as a sound engineer, no way they wouldn’t have replaced a broken unit. I just think he had a quiet day and rather put his energy into his play. Never underestimate his will to win, and he was one behind after last year.
