I feel for JT, I am about his age and we grew up using that word to call someone a lame or a dummy; I know its a word that shouldnt be in anyone's vocabulary at this point, similar to the "r" word but I haven't lost any respect for JT because of this. Slip ups happen.

This isn't them saying they don't forgive him, they even say they're willing to partner with him again.

 

Language changes over time. Words that were once socially acceptable change as well. This is one of those words and has nothing to do with being "politically correct" or "pc strikes again". If you can't see that, well then, you're part of the problem.

This right here. He knew the exact moment he said, he messed up. I grew up saying them too, occasionally they do still slip out but I make an effort to not say them. He's a human, he made a mistake. But he's also not a regular joe like you and I, and his slip ups cost a whole lot more than ours do.

I think it was way too quick of a decision. This was a mistake. Can we not have those anymore? There isn't anyone walking this Earth that won't or hasn't made a mistake. 

 

One time is a mistake more than one is a habit. He deserved a second chance in my opinion. He'll recover get a new clothing sponsor, maybe not this year.

This is modern business. If you are being paid large sums of money to represent a company, there are certain words and trains of thoughts you need to completely eliminate from your daily vernacular. Social media platforms are precariously unstable, given how active JT is in the space, he should have known better. This is no different than "swear" words landing you in major trouble in the past.

Well...I wouldn’t have dropped JT, but sometimes in life you best learn a lesson when it costs you big money.

 

JT is super talented, but a bit immature.  So let’s hope this is the turning point.

I'm certainly not condoning his behavior. It's not right. Far worse things have been said in locker rooms for a hundred years. We've all heard worse. He looses an extremely lucrative endorsement contract for one word but countless other athletes have done far worse and still retain income

My two sense; they were looking to make cuts and this was a good excuse to not pay someone a few million a year. I’m not sure they hold up well against a company like Peter Millar who might as well be the Polo of golf.

A few years ago, Kobe’s homophobic slur was met with stiff fine, but none of his sponsors budged.  I wouldn’t call it cancel culture, which implies incidence occurred in the distant past.  Cultural shift is a good thing.  JT will be fine.

Slip ups or not,he’s always been held high for whatever reason. This day and age it’s not tolerable, plain and simple. Humans are as weak as we’ve ever been. I’m not saying by no means it’s right, but never understood why everyone around golf thinks he’s such a saint?  I’ve witnessed him drop the F bomb on tv before in the rain, on the green and nothing mentioned. Wish him the best in his future  endeavors with sponsors. Maybe this wil be a learning curve!

JT doesn’t bring in nearly as much money as Kobe did. It’s a lot easier to do with him.
