Mizuno MP-22

I just picked up a set of near mint MP60's and i also have a set of MP32's I bought brand new in 2007 that have only played less than 40 rounds. I will never let these 2 sets go, they are amazing irons!

I am definately keen to see what the new MP22's look like...

It almost has to be.

After all the bragging they did about how every tour pro could tell the difference.

Can't see them taking a step back in feel.

100% agreed on this. Not sure I get the titanium multi material and how it fits into the line up. I did read earlier in the thread that the old SC was to close in performance to the MB which made sense but it still doesnt resolve how the MMC fits.

Anyone have any new timelines on when the new product leaks / info might start to appear? Vosh tweeted front face a long time ago and nothing since... any inside scoop?

I know that Vosh said that this was the justification for getting rid of the SC in the MP20 range. However, there is clearly plenty of demand for traditional CB/SC players irons in the market. I would even be fine with an "MMC" but hide the tech - I think the backs look too busy on the current MMCs, which is why I never replaced my MP18 SC with them. Throw some tech in the mid to long irons and make them blend better for those of us who would love to game MBs in 8-PW like myself.

Also, Vosh is a big fan of shallow cavity irons, which is why he plays the JPX 921 tours. He did an equipment Q&A with the TXG guys (below) back in January. At the 53:20 mark he makes an interesting comment that makes me think a new CB/SC may be in the new MP range.... or I could be reading the tea leaves a little too hard.

I completely concur with the idea that there wasn't much difference in performance between the mb and sc as I spent a significant amount of time going back and forth between the two on simulators.  If I had to do it over again i'd go 4-8 mmc then 9-pw on the mb.  i'd probably bend the mmc a degree weak and the mb a degree strong to start then figure if the gapping was working out and adjust as needed.

So Mizuno is pushing their release back because of production but Titleist is still planning on pushing forward.

Hope Titleist has a good amount of materials set aside for their release

A fascinating revelation given the recent Titleist announcement.

That comment from Vosh caught my attention when I first watched that video, as well.  And yes, it does seem like he's leaving the door open for re-introducing a shallow cavity/muscle cavity/split cavity model with the MP-22 lineup.  If they don't, it will be a while before I entertain another set of Mizuno irons.

For me its going to be Mizuno again in the irons. If nothing excites me in the MP22 range, I am definitely going 921T and calling it even. Man, the Open Championship cannot come soon enough! I hope Vosh does a TXG preview teaser video as well...

I would agree. PXG, Titleist, Callaway, TM have killed it. Ping has to feel like they are buying high and selling low in the market right now.

They should probs release some photos or else I will be ordering some Titleist's. Would be a mistake not to. Some of us can hold off if we know what is out there.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. Show me some pictures

I'm looking to buy my first brand new full set of clubs(always played used MP14, Wilson FG53/17, Nike Irons) and new set of wedges this year and had planned on getting the Miz 22 blades but was open to other brands and styles...I like the look of the T200 that I've seen but haven't seen the top line and I know the lofts are jacked.

If they released some picts and they looked nice. I'd be ok ordering in Sept knowing it may be March before I got them as I don't usually play in the winter but by ordering I could at least know the lofts and order wedges and top end of the bag while I wait

My prediction is that Mizuno will come out with a pre-blended set in the MP-22 range -- all forged with very progressive CGs and expanded perimeter weighting from short irons to long.

This just seems like a logical move since most people playing MPs are blending.

I just noticed that tgw.com has taken down the mp20 mmc and mp20.  They still have the HMB though.

I’m itching for them to bring back a diamond cavity, a la 63, 64, 66.  Just love that design.  Smaller cavity, more of an old school approach but maybe they could modernize it.

I would be happy if they simply re-issued one or two classics, like the MP-64, MP-60, or the MP-32.  At least throw the Mizuno-loyal a bone to stock up with before permanently leaving the market segment.  Lol.
