Am I the only one dreaming of a RAW finish option for the MP22?

I could see raw being a special run like the copper MP 20's but as a stock option, traditionalists (a.k.a chrome lovers) would be peeved.

I’ve seen so many different opinions on this reverse offset idea that I have no idea which I would prefer. Are any iron sets currently made that way?

None that I'm aware of.

The purpose of offset is to set your hands ahead of the ball at impact, so the reverse offset idea was designed to help players compress the ball more with the mid and short irons.

I am also interested to know if anyone has any insight into whether an SC type model will be reintroduced. I read previously that it was deemed superfluous to the MB, but it is my favorite model type.

It actually doesn't (unless the science has changed).  Offset is to help players keep their hands ahead of the ball at impact, which helps get the ball airborne through compression and backspin.

Right, but offset also helps straighten out a slice and I assume manufacturers are thinking that the lower the loft the more pronounced the slice.

It's more for height than anything.

You're very on-point with this comment. I think a lot of that went away when people actually hit them though. MP-5 is as good as it gets. They look stunning and meet all the criteria of blade. Somehow, with the weight cheated towards the sole, they're still easy to keep down and they're just flat out not as punishing as the 4's/18's.

I didn't think there would ever be a need to move away from the 33's but here I am. The notion that MP-18/20 are "gimmicky" gave me a good laugh lol.

+1

i went from 33s to 68s to 5s

the 5 are definitely the easiest to hit and I haven’t worn through enough yet to replace them. I have however given in to replacing the 4 & 5 with something even more forgiving. The satin finish and feel are taking some getting used to, but no denying much smaller drop offs on a missed strike with the 921s.

I will at some point replace 6-pw, but these will always be thought of fondly in the line of great mp blades.

I feel your pain! I miss my MP-32’s and dream of finding an iron set that recreates the mojo the 32’s gave me. The 921T is darn close and I just about pulled the trigger on a set but opted for more forgiveness in the 921F.

Why not get a set of 32s?  Might be a bit of a hunt, but I expect you could score some.

If it matters, they are conforming.  Not just in theory, but on the list.

I was talking about the mp18, I’m not a fan of the 20. I have a set of the TN-87 and also a set of the ms-11 both with copper underlay and oh man do they feel SWEET. the ms-11 might be the best shape of an iron ever, super small, straight back muscle, razor thin beveled top line (like the rickie blade) but unfortunalty has the reverse offset where I can’t even look down at the 8-pw. But they feel amazing

The 11's only have reverse offset in the PW, where it goes from .15" to .19".  The 6i-9i are all the same at .15", the 2i-5i are .17".

Per Mizuno's specs.  🙂

Just got these in new condition for $525... played 3 rounds so far and im in love. Definitely easiest blade ever to hit with just about no sting but gives great feedback.

Question / Advice

If I was a P760 player and now a T100 player and never gamed a set of these.....why would I want to or should I ?

very curious

appreciated

Mizuno is known for it's feel, but I can't say you would definitely see a performance difference. I think Mizuno does a great job with builds and offers a lot of options with no upcharge. I would also consider JPX Tours, they seem the closest analogue to those sets. Or whatever replaces the current MMC.

Always thought the mp18 was an off year for Mizuno. The mp20 was just so outstanding that it made the mp18 easy to forget. Given the mp20 was a bit of a full on homage to the 14,29,tn87 and 33 possibly, such a respectful release going back to their rather Hoganesque cop of the Precisions. I think it will be hard to step up from the mp20 blades. Copper underlay, c’mon on! Maybe they will add something to the Somewhat banal mmc/sc mp20?
JP doesn’t think they can really do much more than the mp20 blade, such aN utterly perfect modern blade. He doesn’t think they have ever made a better blade than the mp20, but who knows?

I agree with this. I don’t know how you improve the mp20 blade, but let’s see something in the MMC/sc line.

Am I the only guy who preferred the MP-18 line-up to the MP-20 line-up ?

Maybe I'd take the MP-20 MB over the MP-18 MB.  The MP-20 MMC did nothing for me over my MP-18 MMC.  The Fli-Hi's are great. And the MP-18 offered the SC variant.

I'm gaming ZX7 / ZX5 this season for a change of scenery, but I will surely order an "MP-22 MMC" version when announced.  I already told my club-guy I'm to be his first order in the system once available. 👍
