Spieth Working with Butch

Whatever it is, he’s got his hands full with Jordan because his swing is a mess and his head is too.

A well-known local teaching pro in his radio show used to say that Spieth's swing would linger, but not last. Turns out he was right.

If it's true it may already be over, Butch said earlier this year he could fix Spieth in two seconds.

Wish I'd seen that, but I kind of gave up on that thread for the reason it has been sort of endless, lol.  It will be interesting to see what, if anything, is said or noticeable about whatever work may have been done or will be done.  Butch is definitely the antithesis of Cam in the word department, so maybe fresh eyes and a "simpler" approach?  I enjoyed watching Cam and Spieth work on his wedge play late in the day on the range at the Masters in 2016.  Not a lot of chatter, but they were quite a ways from the stands and the only two on the range late on Wednesday.  Then he hits a wedge in the water on Sunday! This game.

 

Here they are at the short game area before heading over to the range.  Cam is still bothered by the shank Jordan just hit ---- just kidding, I think he's shaking off a tick.

The speculation was that Butch was being consulted, but Cam and Spieth were still working together.  Probably Butch doing his shrink impression which might even help Spieth.  Jordan needs to learn to be comfortable hitting an average, safe shot.  His great shots are still some of the very best, but his bad shots are worse than a rank amateur.  That has to be mental.

I love the thought of this. If someone can help Spieth get rid of the couple of absolute foul balls that he seems to hit in every round then he can get himself back up there where he should be.

Will take a while to dig out of this hole.  99% is mental , so butch  is likely the right guy.  If Jordan will listen.   He needs a wake up slap.  Not more mccormicks positive reinforcement. You don’t reach world #1 as a fluke . But you can sure ruin natural ability with too much technical nonsense.
