...but I broke 80 today for the first time.  Not everyone here is a 300 yard hitter and can spin a wedge back on a dime.  But for one of us, this is a big deal after 20 years of playing.

congrats @lvphil702 on breaking through the 80's barrier. I know how golf can be. Its a bloody hard. All people can do is to play your own game and stick with it. ^_^

Congratulations OP...big accomplishment and is such a good feeling!

 

Breaking 80 and getting to single digit handicap were two goals I set for myself years back and I never really thought I would actually do either of them. I accomplished both about 3 years ago...BUT, deep down I knew that I had gotten there by riding a hot streak that I had never had before and that felt “temporary”.  I was right, and I played about 2-3 bad years of golf until recently. I recently broke 80 again, and handicap is decreasing rapidly. I feel that this time is more “permanent” for me and now the next goal is to shoot 75 and get to mid single digits. 
 

Always aim high with golf...keep it up!

Congrats! Breaking 80 was one of the best feelings I’ve had in golf. Had to play another 18 that day and somehow broke 80 again then it didn’t happen the rest of the year.

Congrats!  What did you get on the back 9 😉.  Unfortunately, the temp here didn't break 30, and there's snow on the ground, so probably won't have the opportunity to shoot for the same for some time yet.  Closest I got was 80 from the geezer tees (but that included a 'breakfast ball'), but I prefer the whites and would like to break it from there.
