I honestly wonder if he makes an appearance at the Champion’s dinner? Perhaps he could be in a boot/crutches by now?  He’s gone injured and not playing before, seems it does mean a little to him.

Honestly, the way sheriff Villanueva has handled this has been an embarrasment.  I love Tiger and am so thankful that his injuries, while serious, aren't any worse than they were.  But the celebrity treatment he's receiving here is unwarranted.  Whatever the cause, the public has a right to know.  It's very fortunate that this was a single vehicle incident.  Had Tiger hit another vehicle, Villanueva would not be able to conduct this investigation this way.  He's using the fact that only Tiger was involved as a cover to not release information the public should have a right to know.

Does the public have a "right to know?"  Honest question, I have no idea but you obviously think it does.   Is that a legal, freedom of information act type thing?

I would think that it would SOP to draw blood and test it for alcohol/drugs on any serious crash...or is that some type of constitutional violation?

 

Going 83 down a incline on an unfamiliar curving road in an SUV (Genesis ain't a Macan!) doesn't strike me as smart driving.

 

At this point in his life, it would appear that Tiger is a confirmed "20 handicap" driver!

It's not "celebrity" treatment. It's the LAW. Only people who were affected by the accident (Tiger, owners of the car, nobody else since no private parties/property was affected) are privy to the findings, BY LAW. You weren't involved, so, you have ABSOLUTELY no right to know what that cause was.

 

What you're arguing is, since Tiger is a "celebrity," you should be able to know everything about it.

Cause of crash was expensive speed. Estimated at traveling 80-85mph when leaving the road. 75mph when hitting the tree.

I think the level of analysis done here is very unfortunate and is essentially directly related to who the driver of this vehicle was.  The saddest part is that by refusing to pursue this further, whatever behavior caused this accident will go unchecked, which puts Tiger, his children, and other drivers and their children, at risk in the future.   I personally find it highly unlikely that this is all an innocent mistake.  Two prior incidents driving under the influence, one very recent, and he all of a sudden shows up doing double the speed limit and accelerating into a crash...and we're just going to leave it at that? 

 

This whole thing is a massive shame, and I hope we don't have to read about something worse at some point.

So he was driving 80+ MPH, and accelerating at the time of incident according to WSJ report, yet no reason to suspect he was under the influence. I hope Tiger is okay and recovers well, but I don't think this is how average people would be treated under the exact same circumstances. Maybe I'm wrong.

Bingo. Since the information and cause of the crash was in fact released, it was likely because Tiger's team said it was OK to help end the wild speculation.  Given there were no formal charges filed (not even a citation), I can't see any reason why it would become public information. If John Smith does the same, there wouldn't be multiple news crews/helos, press release, etc. They would clean it up and move on.

 

He's lucky to be alive for how fast he was going, really goes to show how much modern cars have come along in terms of safety.

In a case like this probable cause that the driver is under the influence of drugs or alcohol is required before a breath or blood test is administered. Just having a wrecked car is not sufficient. They need something like open bottles or cans of alcohol in the car or the driver smelling of alcohol and appearing impaired. Law enforcement said there were no signs of impairment. Therefore, no tests can be given.

 

Put me in the camp of "I don't care." The only person injured was Tiger. If he caused the wreck by driving stupidly I'd say he's been punished well beyond what a traffic ticket would do. The LA County Sheriff's Department has much more pressing concerns than trying to hang a reckless or impaired driving charge on a driver for a crash in which no one else was hurt.

Reports prepared by police will be subject to a FOIA request, which i imagine is how we are now receiving the info related to his rate of speed at the time of the accident.

So it's confirmed that you were speeding at a rate of travel that was ridiculous compared to the posted limit... you leave the road and damage public property and you skate without any charges whatsoever, not to mention that the sheriff, by all accounts, never even attempted to get a a warrant for a blood screening ... nope ... no special treatment here... move along.
