Wooden or Plastic Tee?

Tall, wooden tees unless I'm on a par 3 then I just grab any random broken one off the ground.

 

You can get a bag of like 1000 tees for $5 so I'm not too worried about durability, and I don't like the plastic ones just because they can be tough to get into the ground in the summer when the tee box is really dry.

Always used wooden tees but decided I would give the plastic tees that our golf shop gives away a try. Being in North Texas in the summer, the ground was pretty hard one day. Went to put the tee in the ground and it bent and I jammed my finger pretty good. That was last time I ever used a plastic tee. 

 

Don't remember the last time that I bought tees but probably have 4 or 5 hundred of them because people are always giving them to me. Or I pick them up off the range or I pick up 10 or 20 when I go play somewhere that provides wooden tee. Have plenty of both long and short tees but it's not unusual for me to play an entire round with a short wooden tee and not break it.

I have been using the plastic Wedge Tee for nearly 10yrs. I have a lifetime supply of pink ones.

Most of the time the bendy plastic tees with the stripes they give out at the country club, but I had my best driving day in a long time with wooden bamboo tees yesterday so that is what I'm using now.

Last I checked, tees were pretty damn inexpensive. I like the wooden ones over the plastic ones. Sometimes they break. So what? Hell, I always use someone else's broken tees on every par 3 and whatever hole I use something other than driver. $7 for 75 wooden tees will last me the better part of a year. If I dunk 2 Pro V1s in the water in a round, that's also $7, and it doesn't stop me from buying premium balls.

I use unpainted wood tees. I have never tried plastic not for any particular reason haha

I remember this question coming up a couple years ago and I agreed with a couple of responders that it is impossible to provide any useful information without knowing your swing and what your misses were.

 

I would stop looking for some uninformed opinions here and a panacea for your game and schedule a tee fitting with a certified professional.

Right now I am using wooden 2 3/4" step tees and  1/2" red plastic step tees for everything else.

White wooden tees only. Broken ones on par 3's that have to find on the tee box. If I cant find a broken one I'll break the one in my pocket.

I'm not superstitious at all...

I have literally never thought about it.  If I find one I’ll pick it up a d put it in the bag.  If I get some from a tournament or outing then they go in the bag too.  On the 1st tee I pull out 3 of whatever and replace em as they break or get lost.

Agree with all the plastic devotees. They last forever. 

I went back to wooden because it felt like the plastic tees put more marks on my driver face. 

My wooden tee consumption is up over the plastic, but its a pretty nominal expense.

I use whatever.  Never bought a plastic tee but I find them now and then and use them.  Had a skinny plastic three prong tee but it kept bending and the ball would fall off.  LOL.

I have wooden and plastic ones in my bag and use whichever one I happen to grab.

Question - Someone once told me the plastic tees are harder on the mower blades. Is there any truth to that?

Martini user for many, many years, and I use the tees as well 😉

 

For those who like to borrow tees, I keep a supply of specialty wooden tees with a very flat top.  It's good fun loaning those out!

Can't find it now, but there was a study done on the martini tees.  They reduced driver distance like 3 to 5 yards at 280 yards. But, they reduced side spin by a few hundred.  At 230 yards instead of 233, I'll take that less side spin.

 

I lose 1 about every year or 2.  They last forever.

Wait!  What???  How is that possible they cost yards?  Is that teeing them the way I do which is forward lean exposing more of the ball?!  Weird.

Been using Epoch 3.25" Driver tee's and 1.50" iron tees since they were introduced.  Buy each in a box of 1000.  Proper strikes, one Driver tee lasts 7-10 rounds, sometimes longer.

I tend to buy the pink plastic ones, not really any reason other than a consistent size, recently got birtees for using in simulator doubt they will ever make it onto course tho

My fear is the big box store would basically push you into their house brand tee and not truly evaluate all the available tee options.

 

<edit> I bought Maxfli tees at DSG, so what does that tell you. Big box bastards.
