What is the biggest surprise you added to your bag in 2021?

Shafts I previously knew little about: Project X Catalyst 6.0 graphite iron shafts. It really is a constant weight, low torque, Project X profile you can hit all day and it won’t leave you hurting. With so much attention on Recoil, Steelfiber and the new MMTs, True Temper gets overlooked in this category.

PING G425 Crossover 2-iron.  I was a walking scorer at the Puerto Rico Open and saw Brandon Hagy hitting this club on several holes and absolutely launching it.  All the caddies gathered around to take a peek.  Fortunately it's been working amazingly for me as well!  Super solid off the tee and hittable off the turf as well.

I had a pretty standard set of sand and lob wedges for years.  56* and 62* degree models, usually Callaway.  The 62* never got used because it is frankly difficult to execute for this 15 hcp.  I went with something more forgiving and within my skill range so got a Ping Glide 3.0 wide-sole 54* for chipping and a Glide 3.0 Eye2 for sand shots. They both get used all the time and work great for my skill level.

Gotta say that the 2021 Apex Pro 3 hybrid with a Ventus Black 10, has been the most surprising.  I have ever had a hybrid that is this consistent, it’s surpassed my old 818 h2 in every way, and I never thought I would find anything better than that.

Epic Max 5 wood is a beast, long and straight. Also the Ping 410 5 hybrid is a solid "get the job done" club. I have a lot of confidence with both. My F9 7 wood is fighting for it's life not to be replaced by the Epic Max 7 wood.

So far my biggest surprise has been the fact I keep adding to my bag. I REALLY think I am done and feel really good about it.

I've only purchased one club this year, an Adams speedline plus 5 hybrid, but I've only played one round. It seems to perform well enough. Right now I'm seriously considering getting myself a new (actually new, not new to me) driver and getting custom fitted.

Right now he problem is I'm at the weird point of my budget will only allow me to get maybe 3 clubs, but if I wait a month or so, I could increase the available clubs. However he club ho urge is strong.

I would have to say my KING COBRA TOUR MIM irons. Long irons are as easy to hit as my 8 iron. I had PING G710's before and I find these to be just as forgiving and there has not been a better feeling forged iron out there that feels any better to me than my MIM's. These irons should be on everyone list to try when looking for a new set.

Picked up a Ping g410 4h that I finally had a chance to hit last week.  Soooooo easy to hit and just as long as my fairway wood.  It made such an impression that I immediately bought a 5h off ebay to go with it.

Getting fitted for wedges has helped my scoring tremendously. Before this all I had was a PW and SW. I now have a 52, 56,a and 60 degree wedge and has allowed me to hit shots out of any lie I come across from 110 on in.

How much has your scoring dropped?

Ping G425 3 and 4 hybrids. Have never had any luck hitting Ping hybrids but once I had a club pro help me with my ball placement and address, theses things are automatic and maybe the easiest clubs I’ve ever hit consistently straight...

My biggest surprise of 2021 is that after testing a bunch of drivers over the winter the winner was an R510TP. It beat out: G10, G15, G25, G30, G, GBB Epic (both regular and subzero), F8+, M3, 910D3, 905S. Straightest and best dispersion of the bunch, I'm cool with giving up ten yards to hit the fairway more.

2021 was a year of big moves for me, and I don't change that often just for the sake of changing.  I not only moved physically to a new state, but basically every club in the bag (and now even the bag itself) is different, and all for the best - so far...

Start of 2021:

Dr - Mizuno GT180 w/Project X Evenflow White

3W - Mizuno GT180 w/Project X Evenflow White

Di - Taylormade TP UDI 1 iron w/KBS CTaper Lite

4i-pw - Taylormade P770 (OG) w/TT AMT White

50*/54*/58* - Vokey SM7 w/TT S400W

Putter - Odyssey Oworks 7s Tank w/KBS CTaper 2i shaft

Bag - Sun Mountain C-130 cart

As of now in 2021:

Dr - Ping G410 Plus w/Project X Evenflow White

3W - Mizuno GT180 w/MRC Tensei White

Di - New Level NLU-01 18* w/KBS Tour Hybrid Proto

4i-pw - New Level 902 w/KBS Tour V

48*/52* - Cleveland CBX2 w/ KBS Tour V Wedge

58* - Vokey SM7 w/TT S400W

Putter - Cameron Special Select Fastback 1.5 w/KBS CTaper 2i shaft

Bag - Ping Hoofer Tour stand

Haven't actually received the Hoofer Tour bag and jury still out on 3W and 58*, we'll see what transpires between now and 2022, but everything else not going anywhere for a while.

WITB:
Mizuno GT/ST-180 Dr w/ EvenFlow White 6.0 75
Mizuno GT-180 3wd w/ Tensei CK White 75
TM UDI 1, 3 w/ KBS C-Taper Lite S
TM P770 4-PW w/ TT Tour Concept Satin
TM Milled Grind 52* LB and 58* SB
Odyssey O-Works 7S Tank

Biggest surprise for me was adding a SIM2 3 hybrid.  I never liked the look of hybrids but the SIM2 fits my eyes and I can get it to land softer than my driving iron which is what I was mainly looking for/ hoping for.

Radspeed driver is my biggest surprise. I’ve loved several Cobra drivers but honestly it wasn’t on my radar. Hit a few on a simulator and my numbers came to life. Demoed it a few rounds and just fell in love with it.

Couple of items that surprised me.  First off is an autoflex shaft.  after some tinkering got it dialed in.    Real surprises are Ping G410 7 and 9 woods.  These things are so easy to hit straight, high and they land really soft.  Always thought I was a hybrid guy but these have changed my mind.
