I think the Masters nails it year in and year out with the way the event is covered. Yes only getting 4 hours for the broadcast each day is irritating, but the app more then makes up for it.  The other 3 majors can learn a lot from AGNC

What app? For US open or Masters? Live content? Outside US?

I feel bad for Rose, he seems pretty lost out there. Also appeared to moving more gingerly/slowly on the back 9.

Yep. Farmers is never worth watching. Same boring muni layout with longer rough this week…time to ditch this place for good.

I've heard this same feeling expressed over and over again on this site. However, years ago people were applauding the USGA for choosing US Open sites that were public golf courses everyone could play instead of the same private, big money, old money country clubs that had the ability to host an Open. Ever since these public course US Opens were beginning to be used there were and are nothing but complaints about the course, setup, etc.

You can't have it both ways, even on such a great site like this one.

Please note: 76 might be more than a tad cynical here, and I'm sorry to reply to his post instead of others.

That example makes no sense to me (not saying it is yours either). I am never going to play 99.9% of the golf courses out there, public or private. If it is an old private, might as well get a chance to see it on TV and have it put on a compelling tournament versus wanting the USGA to pick some public course so you can play a watered down version of it at some later date.

After watching the lead up and player interviews this week, one of the clear take aways was how penal the rough around the green was going to be. After 2 days I've yet to see anyone struggle. Yea it's thick but no one seems to have an issue with executing the shot they want... if anything the green side bunkers seem to be more cause for concern trying to get up and down....

Tiger is the great equalizer.  Cant really compare that to this. My only other memory of Torrey besides the 08 open is JB Holmes taking 2 hours to hit a second shot on 18.

Rahm’s putt to eagle 18 and win in 2017? Phil asking for the pin to be taken out on 18 from 100 yards? Snedeker’s incredible round in the wind in 2016? Kyle Stanley puts one in the water on 18 in 2012 and lost a three stroke lead?

go to the US Open app or site and watch Hideki’s 10th and 12 holes from Friday. There are plenty of other examples. Like DJ on the 5th on Friday.

After 2 days I would say a PGA has broken out. Phil thanked Jason Gore yesterday and I think he is right. The  course reminds me of a PGA in that the rough is penal but gettable in spots, the greens are quick yet puttable, and players are tempted into taking on shots because birdies can be made. Yet the low score each round is only 4 under and the winner will likely be single digits under par. I like the fact 18 is a reachable par 5 but you better hit it in the fairway first.  I like the mix of long drivers and great iron players and some great putters all on the leaderboard.

The Masters app in the United States. They give us 2 featured groups for the AM wave and 2 for the PM wave, coverage of holes 4-6, 11-13(Amen corner), 15/16, and can watch every shot of any player within a minute of it happening. They also give us 2 hours of on the range.  Yes the broadcast times kinda suck, but this is more than enough to keep me occupied til the broadcast comes on.  Also the Masters app completely sh!ts on the US Open app

Why does he have the bandage over his right eye when his comment says the problem is his left eye? Is the picture flipped?

Probably a selfie and his camera reversed the photo. I turned that setting off.

I'm going to watch for the next two days because I have a problem, but if i'm being perfectly honest in a blind taste test I wouldn't be able to tell this from the Farmers other than it looking a little more shaggy around the greens.

We all know Tiger would have won this USO, that’s easily apparent.  My question is how much would Tiger be leading by at this point in the tournament?

Ya but the vibe of intensity and pressure is getting thicker and thicker.

You see guys sweating bullets over a routine 7-iron they can hit in their sleep.

US Open is rarely about high fives and fist pumps over great shots. More huge breaths of relief at surviving with a par.

is cool ; )

Like the new avatar! Used to love watching Justin Wilson's Cajun cooking show. Part cooking show, part stand-up comedian. "What kind of wine do you drink wid dis? The kind of wine what you drink is the kind of wine what you like."

Watching the coverage on Peacock of Speith and Casey. Paul Casey seems like he’d be enjoyable to play a round with. They’re chatting and laughing, it seems like they’re genuinely having a good time. The coverage of him during his final round of the Master’s was the same way this year.

He doesn’t understand science but is he anti-science?  Let’s hope he isn’t a science-denier
